Look up the AD contact details on the Omega website and call them. Tell them you got a call about an Ultraman and if it checks out, pay via credit card over the phone. Have them email you an invoice. Done deal and you'll be yhe envy of a lot of people. Good luck and show pictures once you get your watch. 😁

Thanks for the input folks.

I will definitely be enquiring about credit card payment and do a bit more diligence

I have a feeling that payment will have to go through the London store but seems transfers between stores have happened before. The frustrating part is that it seems Omega internal politics and procedures are impacting on the customer experience although I do understand about this being a limited edition watch.

I used beaverbrooks OB IN Trafford centre Manchester. Ask for Ian if it suits your location he's a good one.

I spoke to Trafford Centre yesterday and they said wasn’t possible. Will definitely try again. Cheers

Ah well sorry about that. I was sure they could have helped but worth a go. At least you could discuss what the other OB wanted you to do and give you peace of mind about sending money etc. I find this franchise thing strange.

Who the heck doesn't take a credit card ? I can buy a tourbillon online with a credit card. Whenever I have pre-ordered something they charged my card right away.

OB in Europe belong to Swatch group directly.
I would call the boutique and charge my credit card or transfer the money to their official account that he boutique give you.
Cheers

Good Lord, is the UK that much behind the times? In the US we would give them the cc number over the phone and they would ship it for next day delivery via FedEx or UPS anywhere in the country at their expense. Why is this a problem? If the OP wants to see the watch first he is out of luck, they aren't going to hold it till he shuffles to the shop. You either want the watch or not, make up.you mind.

Can you tell me, by mail, who called and which boutique? I also paid one boutique in London like this so, have their bank details. I called the Swatch group HQ in Southampton to check that it wasn't a scam.

They didn't use Fedex or similar. They employ a driver who brings the watch to your house and hands it over. Nice personal service.

Cheers, Chris

Not true if you include the UK in your definition of Europe. Of course that is a thorny subject!

I had my ST1 and ST2 sent from Sydney Omega Boutique to Darwin just with a bank transfer both times. 4356km is a bit far for pick up 😉

No issue at all, got a few goodies each time as they know I live so far from a AD or Boutique.

I had no idea an Omega Boutique can be a franchise, and some are part of swatch group.

Is this true?

Are we talking about an AD, cause I don’t think an Omega bouqitue can be a franchise.

Boutique in Dubai mall is a franchise 👍

My ST1 was paid with a wire transfer to Omega Boutique, very straightforward. Once HQ confirms the store funds had arrived they will release / ship / etc the watch to you or whoever you designate in writing

So, what makes an OB rather than an AD?
Is, an OB a watch shop that sells just Omega?
The ( what I thought is an ) OB in Bluewater, Kent is owned by Goldsmiths, who are an AD. In fact Omega's biggest single customer in the UK.

OB is an official representative of Omega and only sell Omega
AD is licensed by Omega to sell their products

I understand your concern regarding the payment.

No idea why (I kinda know why, but still) but I'm really really really careful as well when wiring certain large amounts. With all the scams going around and what not.

Is it normal for OBs (of either kind) in the UK to not accept a credit card payment?

From my perspective, not accepting a credit card seems strange.

I understand a merchant would rather save 2% to 3% if possible (who wouldn't, right), but surely when you walk into an OB in the UK they don't make you pay by wire transfer in the store. Why would they make you pay by wire over the phone?

So what's up with this situation? It's late in the day on Monday now. Did you get the watch? Here's a little nudge if you need any more convincing. 😀
