It wouldn’t matter to anyone that would wear the hideous thing, as I doubt they’d be able to tell the time anyway

And we never hear hyperbole from Omega fans/aficionados 😗

Omega also has holy grails for fans. Let me think about it.

In my opinion, nothing looks as good as a Paul Newman Daytona.

I'm sure your wife would be thrilled to hear that....

In my personal experience the biggest difference between the 2 is the "wow" factor. I might be at a party with my sapphire sandwich moonwatch and someone will ask "what kind of watch is that?". My reply is Omega speed master pro. and they will respond "oh, it's nice."

Now, in the same situation with my oyster-steel Daytona panda, same conversation but the final response will ALWAYS be "oh, wow. a Rolex, can i see it.". BTW, this is also true with a submariner in oystersteel.

Another minus point for the Rolex 😉

All the more reason to wear the Omega, bugger how impressed they are with the watch……..indeed they’d be far too impressed by my greatness to notice the bloody watch anyway

If the majority of the public believes a Rolex is the finest watch in the land why would someone want to play in that sandbox? Unappealing.

Ah yes, the PND, which garners such positive reactions amongst the regular folk...

Because name recognition/prestige matters to many people. I'm not a Rolex guy and the first to agree that Rolex is far from the finest watch in the land, but the company makes a very good watch and their brand awareness is second to none.

That entire video is hilarious, but this woman's comment is the high point. No doubt about it.

It is hilarious...but are you laughing at them, or us? 😉

Them, although watching the video does make me realize more than ever that we're a bunch of nerds obsessed with antiquated technology. That being said, her Rolex comment was absolutely spot on IMO. Whether you agree with her or not, it's great entertainment.

I not insecure so don’t need recognition of prestige.
How mush of an inferiority complex would you have to have to need to rely on basking in the reflected glory of a bloody watch……sad bastards!

You joined the forum today and this is your first post? Did you just happen to see the original post and thought "Hey, how fortuitous, I own a Speedmaster and a Daytona and when I go to a party, people ask me about the watch I'm wearing!" Call me skeptical 👍

Has anyone mentioned the difference in the lug wall thickness from the left to right on the Daytona ? like the Tudor Ranger Butt-Plug hour hand, once seen......

You completely forgot to mention that the Speedy Pro is far superior simply because of the readability of the dial.
It literally wipes the floor with the Daytona in that regard alone.
Then there's the issue of service, as I'm confident that it would be easier to find a good independent watchmaker to service or repair the Omega to a good standard.
It's a strap monster as well😉
Literally? 😉
