Bad form quoting somebody and changing the context of their quotes by modifying or adding to their quote from within their quote!
You should leave the quote alone and add you comment below the unmolested quote box.
You can say whatever you like about me or my opinions, as I care not for the likes of insecure little Rolex fanboys such as yourself……………but never try to put words into my mouth!

Has anyone mentioned the difference in the lug wall thickness from the left to right on the Daytona ? like the Tudor Ranger Butt-Plug hour hand, once seen......

"Tudor ranger butt plug"
Goodness me, I knew there was something about it that seemed just a little bit off, butt couldn't ever quite put my finger on it🤔

Literally? 😉

Oh yeah, literally😉
The Ohmayga Speedy Pro can do anything.
Well almost anything, except pass a pressure test at 100 metres.
Butt I don't care as the Hesalite is the GOAT😉

IMO, the Speedy is a better watch than the Daytona above 0' MSL, and the 300m Seamaster Chronograph is a better watch than the Daytona below 0' MSL.

Other than its resale value, I wouldn't take a Daytona for free. That is: if you gave me a Daytona for free under the condition I couldn't sell it, it would either be re-gifted or set in a drawer. There are plenty of other chronographs that are more attractive than a Daytona... its just kinda ugly, and the screw down pushers are a joke.

Rolex makes some fantastic watches[0], I own 2. But the Daytona isn't one of them, and if it wasn't for the rarity/'market hype value', the Daytona would just be another black-sheep of the Rolex family.

[0]: IMO, Rolex does better designs than Omega in everything except the Daytona/Speedy, Railmaster/Milgauss and AT/DJ/OP competitions. Seamaster/Sub are close, but I think Rolex wins that one. Omega's GMTs are horrible, ugly and huge vs the Explorer II/GMT Master.

I removed that as the deliberate misquote is bad form

Incidentally, I love both, and the El Primero which is the third chronograph that I feel is deserving of being at the same table and is the cheapest / best value option of them at present.

The modern Daytonas (automatics) are great watches at msrp, I paid $7k aud for mine and every time I look at it, I smile because of how little I paid. If I paid over retail for it I would not be able to wear it as I’d feel like I’d been scammed every time I looked at it. Great watch but not at the prices they command used.

The Speedy Pro is a great watch at msrp and especially used. There are a number of them that are a complete rip off: Snoopys at scalper rates, overpriced beaten up or put-together 321s, and some vintage models that are overhyped.

Zenith EPs are typically very cheap, A386s aren’t but are special enough to be worth it and aren’t too insane yet. The ugly ones are best avoided and there are many ugly ones that just look like ass. But there are some surpremely good value El Primeros especially used as depreciation is high.

Get all 3, they each have a special quality and are each good in their own way, but only if the price is right.

Apologies, was done tongue in cheek and not done to put words into your mouth.

Not in any way a ‘fan boy’ of any brand, but any one (and this is not directed at you in any way) who posts pictures of a watch they own are usually looking for the acceptance of others that their piece is worthy. I’m fine with it, it’s part of human nature, and I don’t think needs criticising.

Both are great watches in their own way, designs that will stand the test of time. Unfortunately one of them has a disproportionate amount of hype behind them making it difficult to buy and sometimes awkward to wear. I feel a true watch and chrono lover I think most would want both in their collection. I don’t think putting one down vs the other is fair or the right thing to do.

I am fortunate to have 4 of one and 3 of the other.

I love the looks of the Zenith 386 and the 38mm size. Tried one on and loved it (and even the 384) The only concern I’ve had is quality/service issues… is that unfounded?

Genuine question guys. When they say the Daytona is famous for its heritage, what heritage do they mean exactly?

All I can find is some celebrities wore it back in the day, but I can't find any achievements or anything of that nature.

What issues are those then, I have 3 EP's (1 has a 50 year warranty and services so not worried in that one).

Yes, the heritage has its roots in a Zenith movement and the Paul Newman connection.

Other than that the watch failed the NASA qualification process with the knockout test resulting in a bent hand which stopped the movement or something or perhaps even a hand falling off as well.
