................................"the guru" ...............................
I do not consider myself a guru. Never have. There are many more knowledgeable than I.
As i have said countless times, I am just a guy who likes looking at speedmasters, and wish everyone to have the freedom to enjoy them what ever they decide and how they please.
There is no right or wrong here. If you enjoy only a perfect watch, all power to you.
Now any fool can have a perfect vintage watch - it just takes money. There are very few, Not enough for even 10% of the membership here to own just one perfect speedmaster. (Actually I have only ever seen one in my life)
It takes quite a different mindset to appreciate a watch with flaws or patina - finding the balance between appearance and price is a challenge some of us enjoy - and each of us can have quite a different idea of what looks good.
This watch is flawed, and can be improved with sympathetic work. It cannot be turned into a perfect watch, unless you replaced nearly everything. All we are trying to do is make a nicer looking watch than what we started with.
somehow i don't get it in the last months, the average quality goes down and down.
.....................................................
do you really accept such watches ?
Do I accept such watches? Into what? A special, good enough club?
As you so rightly point out, quality in the market is declining, so if people want to own a watch then sometimes they buy things like this.
What I think is important is that people know what is right and wrong.
And of course, finding enjoyment in this hobby without judgment.
