I’ve always looked at the PWS forum as safe hunting grounds...
Yes. This is very unfortunate. It should be a safe place.

Well at least the lettering is straight and close. I’m not justifying the listing I’ll stay out of the controversy but yeah a lot of people sell very nice things here haven’t seen any redials that weren’t noted. Ooops sorry I got involved in the controversy

PM send...

Well, he's def around and hopefully seeing your PM. Says he was just in the Private Sales sub-forum. But no change to the posting in terms of dial disclosure yet. Also, that's taking into account that I cannot even determine if its a redial or not (not enough practice yet) plus the pictures are a little too small to tell... The "OMEGA" does look a bit funky.

I think it's safe for as long issues are detected and disclosed, like it's happening right now in this thread, and happens often via PM. Expecting all listings to be issues-free from the start isn't realistic.

Agreed. Any one of us can unkowingly overlook a wrong second hand or what we think is “unpolished” or even a transplanted movement of the correct caliber but serial puts it off from the case era...it happens, and I believe in the honor system and if someone with more knowledge can privately help the seller correct, then I see no malfeasance.

In fact we have seen this happen in threads where veteran members will weigh in opining on an incorrect dial configuration or hand set that appears to be wrong only to have another member with more experience in that particular reference chime in saying- no, this was a variant and is correct. I think it’s important to always check your references or wait for a more experienced eye before jumping to a conclusion.

I agree, actually with the quality of the photos it’s a little hard for me to make out if it’s a redial. I do see enough to scratch my head a little bit we can all make honest errors

He didn’t say anything about the originality of the dial, so he hasn’t been deceptive- but this is a prime case where a PM should be sent to allow him to correct that himself.
And it is possible that he doesn’t know it is a redial....benefit of the doubt
Totally agree on this. Redials happened to me too in the past. And it will probably happen in the future as well...😁

Completed a spur of the moment transaction with JWROSENTHAL. A common thread interest lead to a few PM's back and forth. Within minutes a deal was agreed upon. Information exchanged, payment agreed upon and arranged. Watch was sent and received, balance of payment received in mere minutes.
What an enjoyable transaction with an Omega Forum member. If life could always be this easy.

That's great and everything, but there is a good spot in the classified subforums to post this, as it will be there for others to read when they are considering interacting with him on a future transaction.

Posted there also. Being somewhat a selling novice (two sales without a hitch) I was unsure. Will put this in the memory bank.

Well, it could apply to this thread tangentially in that we completely bypassed the whole posting, people tearing the watch apart, and feathers getting ruffled and we just talked- then I bought it 😉

I was wondering if there'd be any fun in a thread asking members to nominate the watch currently available in the sales forums members would buy if they could - but can't currently because of liquidity issues, objections from herself/himself, import fees, 200 post limit, already own eight speedys, and so on.

So these issues aside (price discussion being prohibited), which watch would be their first pic? And why?

It might be a fun way to shill for watches that have been overlooked. Give a friendly boost/visibility to fond members offerings. Help liquid members on the hunt for their next purchase zero in on a score.

There are members here I think it would be facinating to know which watch would be their pick.

It could get ugly, and might be risky, especially if there is blatant shilling, or snarky comments about high prices. Or it could be a fun way of serving both sellers and buyers alike.

Thoughts?

It’s a nice thought with good intentions...but the road to hell......

When I was a new member, I would trawl the FS section and look at the likes a watch got in the posting- then look up seller and see their history, then those who liked the watch as to ascertain their credibility on the forum- that was usually all I needed to know.
