RIP
My thoughts are with the Queen

Won't someone please think of the queen?!

Seriously tho, one doesn't capitalize the 'Q' unless it precedes her majesty's name. We are the queen, or we are Queen Elizabeth.

No love for royalty myself, but Phillip had a good innings, was a likable enough old codger by all accounts, and, yeah, herself must be numb. You gotta feel for any spouse, but one that age - heart wrenching.

She must be thinking about giving it in now. She’s had a life of service. Time to relax and enjoy your last days.

RIP Prince Phillip. Quite curiously, watching the Crown triggered my interest to studying more about him. Quite an admirable person, he sacrificed a lot and proved to be very loyal to the queen since the times when men would not even think of playing secondary roles or being “inferior” to their spouses.

what a petty post. i'm not saying Prince Phillip was a national hero or a paragon of virtue in today's terms, but he served his adopted country faithfully for 70+ years and was a bonafide war hero. are you ? and you want to post about some nonsense that MEGHAN MARKLE alleges happened on the day he passes away?

and people wonder why the world is descending into governance by woke-Twitter-mob
As some would say "Your slip is showing buddy!!" Nobody to the point of this post has mentioned or even lauded Markle. The Duque has been famous for decades, indeed before Megan Markle was born, of having quite a mouth. He was however very indiscriminate about his discrimination or commentary and indeed it was so blatant as to be just seen as a personality trait. Women, Asians, Africans, island people, French, Spanish, politicians, commoners and overall anything living was a target of a well (or not so well) placed joke or commentary.

He did, in many occasions, proof with actions what he did not with words. And the measure of a man, or woman, is on their actions rather than words.

Your comment however does show a position against what you call the woke-twitter-mob which is not really quite this forums demographic.

For my part....my thoughts....There is an after-party somewhere, one that we are all invited to. May he party on, and may those left behind find the strength to make his life and legacy worthwhile. That's all one can ask after all:

Rest In Peace, and Peace for the living.

Lots of praise for Netflix series The Crown in all this. I’m no royalist (in case you hadn’t realised), but even I know that The Crown was 90% fiction. Get a grip, people.

Not as bad as that. Probably only 20% fiction. (The trouble is it doesn't say which 20%.)

The Spanish Monarch abdicated to Prince Felipe, supposedly to bring the monarchy generationally closer to the country....I say supposedly because there where some added pressures.

In any event, it would be probably a good thing if the Queen transitioned to Queen Mother and Charles abdicated to Harry (CORRECTION: WILLIAM). I am not a Monarchist and in fact sometimes I am anti-Monarchist, but if you have to have a Monarchy it may as well be a little more lively.

Hmmm...what happens to William?

My mistake, I meant William. Harry will be somewhere else being rich, successful and free -ish

I also wonder what watch he would liked to have worn, he enjoyed learning about engineering and appreciated all things mechanical, the design, construction and operation of them, so I'd guess it was something robust but kind to the eye as well, not over-complicated with various chrono-stuff going on but functional and could be dropped a few times without bothering if it lost or gained a few seconds extra, just a guess based on his love of the Landrover,
I might be able to find out as i used to work with a guy who left to commit to the selection process to becoke a yeoman warder at the tower, apparently he was successful but i'd lost touch with him by then, but i'm still in touch with some guys who knew him from the army so i'll ask, you never know - another watch appreciator might have caught a glance at it and retained it, just hope he never wore it facing inward, palm side inward i mean, that might be enough to bring Vanuatu to it's knees
