Possibly a Speedmaster 2915?

Question: is there an engraving of “Speedmaster” around the outer rim of the caseback?

Comment: Get some one to take off the bracelet before it scratches the inner lugs. It’s not valuable but probably has sentimental value to you.

Comment: A clock specialist once ruined one of my Speedmasters.

It's difficult to see, but when looking through a magnifying glass I could see Speedmaster on the outer rim. But it is a little worn down.

It's there. You're good.

What a find. It's wonderful to see that these are still coming out of drawers.

Go slow. No need to take it to a local watchmaker. As mentioned above, just put it in a drawer until you are ready to sell. Anything you do to it risks reducing its value.

Appears someone long ago scratched 2915 above the Speedmaster engraving

I meant to say he specializes in watches, not clocks.
I am located in scandinavia

Which country? Many of us are from Scandinavia 😁

I'm guessing Sweden? 😀

Well, that's rather serious.

Be extremely careful about anyone PMing you asking to buy it, given how infrequently they come up your best bet would likely be to let it run at a major auction in as-is condition if you were to sell it but if you're looking to keep it as a family heirloom have either STS or @Archer handle the service whilst preserving its originality.

let's share it more clear and loud here:

"the world record price for the Speedmaster 2915, $275,508 US dollars."

Hence why I'm hoping some dealer doesn't lowball him, all it takes is two guys who want it badly at an auction and it could set an extremely good price.

Looks like someone have slipped when trying g to open it and there is a ding on the left side of the bezel.

But anyway, fantastic piece.

I can think of a couple of EU (well, most of them are in the EU now) watchmakers how are also extremely capable.

EDIT: scratch that - Norway isn't part of the EU of course 🤦

Almost, i'm from norway

Greetings from Aalborg, Denmark 😁

Please, please be VERY careful.

I would not show it to any “local watchmaker”. There is no potential upside and significant potential downside of something goes even mildly wrong.

I would treat this like a winning lottery ticket. Put it somewhere very safe and don’t fuss with it.

If you want a real estimate of value, here are your best choices:
1) post more pictures here and genuine experts here (not I alas) can give you some significant insight.
2) call Phillips, Sotheby’s, Christie’s or Bukowski’s (in Sweden - sold the current 2915 record holder) - these are all auction houses known for selling high value vintage watches like this. They will help you. They may even fly out to see something like this.

There are minimal other options and almost definitely nobody near you that can likely assist.

Don’t mess around with this one. DO NOT let anyone “fix”, “replace”, “tighten”, “adjust”, “POLISH!!!!”, “brush”, or in any other way touch this watch or you risk halving or more the value.

Shoud I get someone to open it so I could take pictures inside and find the serial number?

Strope: Don't touch it or give it to anyone to open. Find a suitable buyer and let them inspect it and make you an offer. be it a private buyer, dealer or auction house. If the wrong person messes it up or damages it you aren't talking a couple of hundred to fix it, it could be thousands or irreparable damage.

Ok, thanks! I will instruct my dad to not have anyone touch the watch.

To be honest I never thought it could be worth anything. Mostly because the chain doesn't look right for it. My dad has had it since 1970 and he had no clue as to how much it could potentially be worth.
