The correct spelling for the electronics company is Philips 😉
In any case, good luck with the sale. It will be interesting to follow 👍

1. I did not have any contact with any auction houses prior to my post on Saturday. I had never even heard of Bukowskis before. And I thought Phillips only made electric appliances

Wow, many people seem to be quite cranky today!!

yeah, no kidding. Some of the "dealers" on OF all of a sudden become entitled to pieces like this when they emerge, then upon having their offer rejected by the owner, they get butthurt like a jilted lover, and then start to thread crap all over the seller. I for one really find these dealers annoying. And so we're clear, i'm not talking about every dealer, there are several on here that are top quality people.
This will be a very fun auction to monitor. Good luck to OP, I hope it brings a world record!

Amazing drawer-find, @Strope!! Hope you’ll fetch an handsome amount at the auction.

I was reading this thread from start to finish at work and guess what - I missed a conference call.

Keep this going. Work is so over-rated 🍿

Congratulations @Strope it's an amazing watch and hopefully the auction outcome will have a real positive impact on the life of yourself and your family. Some grandparents have great foresight!

As for the accusations of foul play I don't think the OP would have gained anything significant from spinning a yarn versus just going straight to the auction house anyway. It's not like the auction would've gone ahead without any OF members noticing... Either way the item ends up on here, everyone drools over it and the OP gets what its worth at that moment in time.

The condition in comparison to previous record pieces doesn't look as good to me but time adds value i guess. Really interested to see the outcome. And a bit jealous. Good luck!!

@Strope Free champagne for forum members at Riche just outside of Bukowskis the 19th of April? 😀

I'll consider it if it beats the $400K record 😉

You can be there on the 19th @DotOverNine, but if you want the champagne you should be there on the 9th!!!

Oops, my browser sent me to "Important timepieces 607", probably last years auction =/

Ok, thanks! I will instruct my dad to not have anyone touch the watch.

To be honest I never thought it could be worth anything. Mostly because the chain doesn't look right for it. My dad has had it since 1970 and he had no clue as to how much it could potentially be worth.

Amazing story! I would like to see your dads face when you tell him what you found out 😀
Hope you got it on the camera. This watch is the dream for every omega collector and for 99,999 % of us it will remain as a dream.
Good luck, no matter what you decide to do with the watch.

Cheers, Kapka

taddyangle: Neither Christies or Philipps would have taken this watch for their Geneva Auctions in MAY let alone for an April auction.
This is further proof that the OP didnt bother with due diligence or shopping the watch for the best selling opportunity and instead had it pre submitted to the auction house before ever even joining the forum.

As far as the dates on the pics, if you like I can take a pic of my dog and change the metadata to say it was taken in 1925..
Why you are so angry for him? Because he didnt accept you offer.....

If this beats the $400,000 record I will throw a party and you are all welcome.

Does anyone know the highest price paid for a 2915–2?
