So he's been pedaling this thing for 5-years now?

I think that was a different watch, since he was going on and on about guilloche enamel dials. Unless it's still for sale on his site. I didn't look.

And occasionally rare watches are real.

But rare watches are not always valuable.

Absolutely. They also have to be desirable. 馃榾

You're forgiven. Who even knows what day it is after months of isolation.

The patience to stick adamantly to his guns for 5 years, it's almost inspiring.

I wouldn't touch it. Even if it was legit it is not very attractive nor a desirable model so if you pay anything near asking you will have a difficult time reselling it in the future if you tire of it

This is as close as I can come from the Omega Database:

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-other-omega-oj-2690

But the one above is a snapback case and the OP鈥檚 watch is a screwback.

I can鈥檛 express an opinion on the dial and hands. They might be correct or they might not be correct. Would need to see in person.

However, regardless of whether they are correct or not, this is not a US$2,000 watch. I don鈥檛 think it would bring half that much in an auction, even accounting for Australian GST in the price.

Hope this helps,
gatorcpa

So the original omugaman鈥檚 daughter is selling the watch to the OP? It doesn鈥檛 look like opinions on it have improved in the intervening five years.

Not that the poster is a particularly egregious example, but I could do with less of people coming here requesting advice and then snapping at the mildest of gripes and teasing. Most members here do their best to offer their expertise despite blurred photos and careless descriptions; bringing a query to the experts and expecting the Preferred Customer treatment isn鈥檛 a good look. That鈥檚 an ungenerous description of the OP, I know, but after 40-something posts I鈥檇 hope someone would be accustomed to the prevailing idiom around here.

Couldn't agree more. Sometimes the truth hurts yet many expect it to be sugar coated. If one doesn't want reasonably qualified answers then don't ask.

I'll allow that 1) it's easy to be misunderstood in writing, and 2) there are people here who should try harder to hide their delight in delivering bad news

Number 2 especially.

You know, I spent sometime off the forum but this thread has really reminded me why I can't stay away for too long. Will come back in the evening with a glass of scotch to read it all again and have a laugh.
