Thanks, great work! I thought the second gen was the same thickness for some reason, but it looks like you're right, they increased by 1 mm to accommodate the coaxial. I also found the third party number for the third gen didn't match Omega's website, they list the thickness themselves for the ceramic models.

So the updated thickness numbers and percentage gain over first gen:

First Gen SMP: 11.5 mm
Second Gen SMP: 12.5 mm (+8.7%)
Third Gen SMPc: 13.1 mm (+13.9% or 4.8% over second gen)
Fourth Gen SMD: 13.6 mm (+18.3% or 3.8% over third gen)

I assume the second gen thickness increase was entirely due to the co-axial escapement, and the fourth gen's increase is probably due to the sapphire caseback and in house movement. And it actually had the smallest increase of any generation! But what was the third gen's excuse, I wonder...

Anyway, I still hope the next gen can shrink down to under 13 mm with a date function.
It got the thicker ceramic bezel

I finally gave up on getting a thinner diver 300 or planet ocean, and bought something else. I’m not done with Omega, but I am until they make better proportioned and thinner dive watches. Just can’t make them work on my 6.75 inch wrist. My 39.5 PO is ok for now, but gave my diver 300 to a friend. Just couldn’t make it work.

First Gen PO 42: 14.5 mm
Current Gen PO 43: 16.1 mm

There is also a current generation Planet ocean 39.5 mm at 14.2 mm thick...

Here's a mockup. I've assumed a wave dial here, possibly wishful thinking as one of the other photos certainly does look plain dial, but oh well.

did we ever figure out if it is a wave dial? it'd be awesome if they used the older traditional wave, i have both laser and traditional and they're awesome in their own ways.

FWIW, I have the same size wrist as you and find the previous gen ceramic 300 (at 41mm, and thin, with a solid caseback) to be not just a good fit, but a perfect one. But I know there are other factors to consider like wrist shape.

I’d love it if the new no-date diver were 40 or even 39 and thin—I don’t need to see a mass-produced, machine-made movement. But for now, I find this gen works quite well.

Absolutely agree. I had the previous generation, but gifted it to my brother. He loves it, and wears it literally 24/7. I've thought about buying it again, but kept thinking they would update the Planet Ocean line. I guess they did with the Ultra Deep, but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I also can't get over what they cost these days. Way more than I paid for it in early 2018. At this point I'll keep waiting, and enjoy some other brands in the meantime.

Agree. I don’t think most Omega watches (the most coveted wait-listed pieces excepted) make much sense at full retail nowadays. Always secure a big discount or buy preowned. Same is true for pretty much every brand except Rolex, Patek and AP (for a Royal Oak, anyway). And the Rolex hype seems to be cooling now too.

So this is basically the same as the blue dial version, right??

Slim chances of it being slightly smaller in size as in diameter??

For Patek, it's really just 2 watches that matter. Most of the others are selling below retail on the GM. Seems like every brand is starting to get hit in the face of the slowing market.

I also bought and have since passed on the previous-gen ceramic. I loved the watch but mine had a few issues and I had too many divers so had it serviced and gave it to a family member, who loves it, though never wears it on the bracelet.

I'm very happy with my 2021 300m white dial. Bought one from a member here for my BiL and ended up finding another one for myself. Definitely interested in a scaled-down calmed-down model for the future but in no rush at this point, and agree that with the current MSRPs on these it's wise to wait for the aftermarket.

The bottom line is that no one here knows. All we know: a black dial no-date Seamaster pro with the more subtle (older style) wave pattern and Milanese bracelet of the blue Bond LE. Everything else (whether it’ll be smaller, thinner, LE or standard-issue, decorated with gimmicky Bond branding or not, etc) is pure speculation.

Is it not just a black version of the Bond 60th? Go once more to the well Omega!

While I like the curved crystal and no date dial of that and the NTTD, that bracelet is not a winner to me either in steel or titanium form. I am surprised Staib came up with such a poor design, they normally make excellent stuff. If you don't know what I mean, try one and see how badly it fits and how fat it is near the clasp. Not great.
For me no date is a deal breaker. It’s a complication I like in a watch. Omega moving it to the 6 position on the current SMP 300 was a winner. To each their own, I don’t think it’s worth it to lose the date for slightly more dial uniformity and MAYBE slightly thinner case.

I can’t see there being a thinner case unless they use a solid back. I’ve seen nothing to suggest the 8806 is any thinner than the 8800. The date wheel is recessed, not stuck on top. Maybe it is thinner but I don’t think so.

Well we will find out eventually. It does LOOK thinner in the photos but lighting/view angles/wrist shape certainly can play tricks on the eyes. Also possible he could have the band really tight which can make a watch look like it has a thinner profile.

It's not a loss of a date, it's a gain of a more attractive dial. 😉
