Congrats! What’s your first impression of the bracelet comfort out of curiosity? Still have not seen this one in person, looks amazing
I’m a bit biased, bout a NTTD a year before and it’s been used throughout the week. The titanium mesh molded well and I find it comfortable. I will say this black Daniel Craig feels considerably heavier, however I’m hoping the steel mesh is just as willing to mold over time. Hope to then the watch into a strap monster on nato, waiting on the rubber strap to come back. It was between this or a no date sub, and have been super happy with my decision

Thanks for sharing, I prefer steel for the weight over titanium, I have a sensory thing I guess, but have never had a mesh bracelet. Love these new no date models though.

Well this thread just cost me. I wound up buying a 2531.80 off ebay. Its damn clean but not perfect, and comes with all the paperwork. Its on its way to the authenticator over the next few days.

I got it right at 2k, while not the Bond watch of this thread, it is a Bond watch and my first Omega.

Well the ebay authenticator rejected the watch, not 100% sure why. It had the paperwork from the AD, so maybe something broken the seller did not know or did not disclose. So I am not an omega owner. 😞

That's why they do it. I wonder what Stoll found wrong with it. There are more out there, keep trying. One of these is on my list for the future also.

Honestly that's GOOD though- you'll get the right watch and it's great to see consumer protection doing its job.

Got to try the full metallic SMP which was more legible than I initially thought and nicer in the flesh.

Finally managed to try on the black no date.

Have to say was very impressed & now pips the Seamaster as my next purchase.

Mesh I found comfy, however I’d go rubber & I’ve just seen Omega list this with a new Nato on their site (although dearer than the rubber).

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/...axial-master-chronometer-42-mm-21032422001005

Managed to view this again, and the Speedy Pro (still regret letting it go).

2nd time around I wasn’t as in awe, and I felt the Speedy was topping it. Maybe just the mesh I cannot stand, and would need to try it on the rubber (or that new nato it’s on Omegas website with).

One thing I do love it the domed sapphire oh how I wish the Speedy Pro has that rather than the box sapphire.

So- I did a ton of thinking about this watch over the last several weeks. It definitely helped totally alter my perspective about some of the things I don't care for on the SMP line, and that's a positive. But there was something preventing me from really pulling the trigger. I think partly it was the mesh, and partly (although it technically fit) - I personally think that the 49.7mm lug-to-lug is just absolutely pushing it in terms of what I want to wear. Come'on.

Size and bracelet aside - my biggest complaint about the current SMP is that every surface being ceramic makes it way, way, way too shiny. Yes, I know I own a summer blue with a ceramic bezel, but it has more of a matte/glowy dial, and the two types of surface work well together imo, neither overwhelming the other, and instead being complimentary. The JUMBOSuperShine™ that Omega and Rolex have pulled off with their current main divers is just not my cup of cappuccino.

So anyway- what I find IRONIC- is that although Omega went back to an Aluminum dial and an aluminum bezel, there's still something about this watch that manages to be just a bit too flashy. And I can't exactly pinpoint what it is. Maybe it's the anodized bezel? Maybe, it's the applied markers. Maybe it's how this aluminum dial is made. I can't exactly say what it is, but Omega has managed to make a watch with all (mostly) the same materials the first Seamaster 300M Pro used, and... it still does not have a tool watch vibe. It's a modern Omega dressed up as a neo-vintage tool watch, and it... it feels like it.

Ultimately there's nothing wrong with that- I still like it. And honestly it's possible I may add one in the future. But it was enough to put me off purchasing one right now, and I picked up a 2531.80 instead.

Sometimes it's hard to beat the original, I guess.

(on a side note, if you don't like the box crystal, I doubt it will grow on you. The hesalite really is quite nice, and it makes the dial look totally different. It's absolutely worth considering as an option.)

It’s not like a dislike the boxes sapphire, but the domed sapphire on the Seamaster is soo much nicer.

I also love the hesalite. But it’s the applied logo & being the 3861 (sapphire caseback a bonus) that I appreciate more.
