Still awaiting news from my AD about getting my hands on the black no date. Who else has been able to snag one thus far? Any thoughts on the rubber. Ordering on the mesh and having the rubber as well

Were you able to try the short mesh?
It should make a big difference if your wrist is smaller than 18cm/7”.
Then again it might just be an expensive activity if the watch just isn’t for you anymore.
1400 to switch to the short mesh. I don't think so. I posted for a trade but got no takers.

So I got my new "Daniel Craig" Seamaster yesterday. While it is basically a black Bond 60th (which I also have) I like it. Here are some pics for comparison. I bought a regular rubber strap and I have an extra "Bond" type bracelet which I might try. I bought it with the rubber strap and folding clasp - I have the Milanese bracelet with the Bond 60th and I can't stand it, so I skipped ordering it with this one.
Thanks for posting pics - I've been hoping to see some, particularly with the black rubber strap. Post more if you have them! Great collection.

I will soon. I realize those didn't show the waves on the dials very well. Here's a quick one on the traditional bracelet. I'll switch it back to the strap and post another one, too.

Mine arrived today. I'm not a big mesh person, so I went with the rubber strap and also ordered a Forstner contemporary flat link bracelet, which I think will be excellent. This is exactly the Seamaster I wanted Omega to make... (although I would certainly welcome a new version of the 2254.50). Should be a total strap monster and has a great "tool watch" look and feel...

The old (original style) waves are really cool. Of all the features they could bring back, that's a pretty neat one.

Also a fan of the original waves as they are subtle, not in your face. In certain lights and distances the dial ooks solid, other angles the waves show.

I remember when they got rid of the waves for a plain dail and was very polarizing, around the same time the first ceramic bezels were being released. The waves were brought back shortly thereafter and have stayed ever since so think it was a New Coke moment for Omega.

I really hope Omega takes the interest in the retro inspired classic waves options and incorporates them on the next generation SMP models. I imagine they won't look exactly the same, but to me that wave pattern is the definitive iconic part of the SMP and the current gen ceramic models don't quite nail it, for me.

The black no date model is my favourite SMP in generations.

And here it is with the Forstner contemporary flat link bracelet (and their new adjustable clasp). Until Omega offers a similar flat link bracelet for the SMP 300M (similar to the Heritage 300, which I have and love, but is 21mm lug width), this will be how I wear it. Super happy with it.

I don't normally like the Seamaster professional on this type of flat link but my gosh that looks good

Took a fresh look at my pics from the OB when it was released and I gotta say the Gray one is really it ... definitely in the consideration set for next year.

Also, FWIW, the mesh fits great on me, just gotta get the right size which, for my 6.5" wrist, is the small. I don't understand the complaints ... these are really no different from any Omega deployant clasp strap, ie rubber or leather.

Have you worn it for an extended period? They are actually quite different from the rubber and leather. At first I hoped it was because I was wearing the standard length clasp, so I went to the shorter length one, but it didn't help. They are very stiff and they don't flex well around the wrist. And the clasp is shaped awkwardly and doesn't form well to the bend of the wrist resulting in quite a thickness given the layers of strap and buckle at that point on the wrist. I ended up buying this one on the rubber and putting it on the standard Seamaster bracelet.

I don’t understand the complaints either. I find the mesh on my 60th Bond extremely comfortable.

I understand the complaints. I wrist watch is as close and personal you can get with a piece of steel. Watches are a habit, you get used to wearing a specific watch over many years and suddely you change to a diffrent strap or bracelet. No wonder the wrists say no. Besides the mesh looks too thick and clumsy, that probably adds to the persived discomfort.

This - totally personal. Also depends on the use case in my experience. I have the NTTD and love it. This said at first I found the bracelet to be thick around the clasp and a little clumsy. Two things I've learned. 1 it loosens over time and definitely has a lot more flex now after two years ownership. 2 it depends on when I'm wearing it. During office hours when working with my wrists sat against a desk top typing - not so comfortable and I notice it a lot more, so I generally wear other watches for work. All other times, one of the more comfortable watches I own.

It’s funny because my local AD hasn’t gotten the black one in, but they did get the Gold/titanium one. That one looks extremely gorgeous IMHO

Agree, though the white dial variant comes closest I think, partly because it manages the trick of appearing solid white at times and then revealing the more subtle wave pattern.

But these new ones definitely get the waves right. I'd buy it on the rubber though. Had the NTTD in briefly and did not Bond with the mesh.

"Had the NTTD in briefly and did not 'Bond' with the mesh."
😉 I saw what you did there!
