In fact I tried that last week. I didn’t really like the straight and long lugs and since I already got a blue watch (TH Carrera) I would have to go for the white one and I found that to be a bit boring.

I concur on many levels. I too had the GMT, and it was just too much money sitting on my wrist, I thought (after a while) that it looked kind of silly with the two colors, big bezel, and like you wrote, I didn't like people commenting on it, especially when using that stupid nickname. I know people mean well, but... anyway, I made a nice piece of coin (profit) on it, so it ended well.

And ditto the SMP, it is timeless, lots of variations, and I think it is one to keep. I'm on my fourth one, I think. I kind of wish I'd kept the third one...

And now I see that I should have read the whole thread before responding, not afterwards. You did good with the BB.

I have no idea why a 2254.50 hasn’t been mentioned, until now...

The 2254.50 is in a class of its own IMO. It’s already a classic and it is only appreciating, albeit slowly, so it gives you many many years of enjoyment before it becomes ‘too valuable’

40mm case, wears super thin, iconic military sword hands, Speedmaster bracelet..printed dial...AND THE BEST LUME.

The 2254 SHOULD be double the value IMO, as what it represents is a design so flawless and it will never make a comeback..

I might consider the new Longines LLD at 36mm. It’s well below your $4k price point and there’s just something Classic about that super compressor case.

I had a feeling that’s where you would go in the end. You won’t have any regrets

If you completely love the SMP, you will love it again, I’m sure the James Bond/partnership edition is 5 years off but in the mean time the current iteration is too gorgeous to pass up, I don’t see how they can top this unless they can manage to fit more waves in between the patterns!

Under the radar, go to GMT (function) Rolex!
    Edited to be more clear.

I know it is (obviously ), but it still has GMT function. That's what I meant.

where is the stigma coming from?

as to worth, well to each his own. you will get used to it if you just do it everyday.

i used to kid a friend that her insurance premium would be so much if she had to insure her OOTD everyday as she would always have expensice clothes and accessories.

I am sorry, I haven’t taken a good picture of the watch yet despite wearing it each day. Here are two quick shots:

I tried it on the Vanguard Rubber with the Tudor folding clasp. I fortunately, the clasp it rather uncomfortable so I removed it today. Since I don’t use the clasp I should have bought the rubber b instead of the vanguard. But we’ll, it’s good enough and costs only half!

How about a blue or a white date just? A little over tour desired budget but they are under stated and beautiful.

Edit: sorry just saw you are staying away from Rolex. I do think the AT should still be a good option. The Tudors are a little too thick for my taste.

You can also change directions ant look into IWC. They have some great pieces that would complement your current selection.

I really am enjoying it and would also heartily recommend it. It’s a great watch, not just retro but a timeless classic in my eyes.

i think you can tell how much I like it!
