You are right. IWC is different.... I think I need to be more patient to spot a 36mm sized IWC vintage in a good condition. Although I just bought an omega, I still want to solicit a nice IWC. Can you share me some tips?
What kind of iwc are you looking for? What's your budget?

Super sharp and clean 18k Zenith listed for $650 on eBay. The seller says it is 33.3mm.

Now that’s a great example! To the OP, if you’re able to return that Omega, I highly recommend you do so and spend the extra bit to pick this up instead.

my budget is about upto usd 900. I look for cal 83, 88, 89 with 30~36mm size. 85x is not an option. Thanks 😉

I think you will find it difficult to find a nice original example at that price.

Unless he really knows what he's looking for, and gets a bit lucky. I got this for $800 on eBay ... 37mm, cal 89. But I took a risk on crappy photos from an eastern European seller. It just felt right to me and I went with my gut ... you know what I mean. If you have to ask the forum about every potential purchase, it's not going to happen.

In what form deals like this are listed? bidding? buy it now? If I spot anything fallen into my criteria, I’d shoot for it.

I set up alarm about iwc vintage on ebay. is it reliable? or should I browse ebay daily basis?

A good deal can show up anywhere and in any form. You need to be very patient, search constantly, and develop your knowledge so you're immediately ready to jump on a good deal.

People will tell you to ask questions here, and in principle that's a good idea, but it can also backfire, since it can make you second-guess yourself, delay, and miss out on good deals. Many newbies post watches for questions on the forum, and they get mixed opinions. What then? Paralysis by analysis, even if some of the opinions are from people who don't know what they're talking about.

Normally, when you don't have experience and first-hand knowledge, it's hard to get really good deals. If you buy bargain watches on eBay, you'll buy a lot of crap, since you don't know what to look for. Before you know it, you've spent $1200 on three watches that you will eventually regret, and it would have been better to spend that amount on one great watch from a dealer or a top collectors.

Kind of reviving this thread...

I stumbled on an IWC with a barebones description of *female/unisex* on the Bay. Only bidder and received today.

32mm stainless steel without the signed crown, hands are relumed, dial seems original though. I could be wrong as this is my first IWC as well. Movement is a Cal 88, same as the OP's, while snapback serial dates it to between 1945-1950.

Would you be so kind as to apply your expert advice please @Dan S and @gatorcpa?

I have a 1942 Cal 83, 35mm incl crown, with very similar dial and same hands. For comparison....

edit:1942, not 1941.

Looks fine to me @GuiltyBoomerang. If you look closely between the bridges (just above the balance cock in your photo), you can also see the movement serial number, which is quite close to the case number, which is what one wants to see.

Dial looks original to me. Basically a “barn find” watch.

Looks like it dates to 1946 based on this:

The last 3 digits of the movement serial are a guess by me. Doesn’t look like they would make a difference here.

I like it! 👍

Thank you Gatorcpa, Dan S and Queriver for your responses! I do hope @lonemian has found (or is close to) finding one themselves 😉

I'm far from an expert on IWC watches, but it looks like from your pictures that you do have the original signed crown. If I'm not mistaken, the fish symbol on the crown was used to denote watches with water-resistant or waterproof cases.

Excellent find! It looks to be fairly original.

Honestly, I'm relatively new to this, and I can usually only see the signs of a redial after it's been pointed out to me, but that leapt off the screen as dreadful before I even scrolled down. Don't!
