I'd go with the blue but then most of my collection is black faced so the change of colour is nice for me

Hi folks , after reviewing the SMPc and PO, I’ve decided on the new PO. I quite like the smaller size and my better half thinks it fits better. Any downsides in picking the 39.5mm 8800 versus the larger? Thoughts welcome. This is for eveyday use including work.
39.5 for the versatility of daily wear.....and it sounds like the wife approves too

I'm a huge fan of the PO, I wanted black as well but my AD only had blue in the new 8900. I believe blue is more versatile than some think. It can go from a dark gray to bright blue depending on the light. I have the 43.5mm my wrist is 7" around. The many shades of PO blue ZrO2...
Thanks - great watch - almost black in some of those shots. As you say, very versatile.

Obviously this is a very personal decision in the end but from the images you posted, it looks like the 39.5 may be slightly better for your wrist, although this depends a bit on how tall you are, body proportions etc etc.....

As for the colour, I ultimately went with the black, although I was really torn between the 2. The black just seemed a little more versatile and a little less flashy. I also couldn't un-see the black date wheel against the blue dial which just doesn't look quite right to me.

I would go with the PO 39.5mm black. Looks great on your wrist.

I normally love blue dial watches, but for some reason I don't like the blue dial and blue bezel on the POs...I prefer Omega blue dials with sunburst (Orbis HV, Speedy Gemini 4 LE, Speedy MC Moonphase...)

This one is the 2500C variant with 42mm case, and it's much thinner than the newer versions 😉

I have a medium wrist and love the big size cases..39mm it's to small in my opinion. 42mm it's my lower limit..😀

or my new purchase:

Yep, I much prefer the lower profile (thickness) of the 39.5. I wear shirts mostly so I think it will be a better fit.

I had this same dilemma and ended up with the 43.5. For some reason, the 39 photographs really well, but in the flesh, the proportions just seemed too small for me. I tend to err on the 42/43mm side anyway, despite a smaller 6.75” wrist.

The 39 looks like a good size for your wrist. How is thickness?
It’s a fair bit slimmer than the 43 which is main reason I like it more.

The 39mm is 14.16mm thick. Slimmest PO ever! 👍

I’ll play the devil’s advicate here and I’ll say that the thickness of the 42mm PO 8500 is not an issue for me. I wear it with sneakers and when on the beach. The PO plays its part very well, especially on oem rubber. It’s always nice to have a thick sporty and playful watch in the collection. It’s a very specialized timepeace.

Yeah - I can see that - but this will be my daily wearer so needs to look right with shirts at work etc. Maybe if I had more watches 😀

The choice between sizes is all about two things: the proportions of the watch vis-à-vis your own wrist size, and your personal preferences on the various looks. Also, your preferences can change over time. With my 7.75” wrists I’ve always gone for larger watches. I liked a big wrist presence. Now, however, I lean toward a more balanced look. I no longer want people to notice my watch first as I enter a room. For me I think around 42mm is my sweet spot. Oddly, I don’t have any 42mm watches. 40mm Rolex GMT2- my lower limit for preferred watch size, and a 44mm Speedmaster- my upper limit. There is no substitute for trying a watch in though.

Sage advice 😀
