·I'd go with the blue but then most of my collection is black faced so the change of colour is nice for me
Hi folks , after reviewing the SMPc and PO, I’ve decided on the new PO. I quite like the smaller size and my better half thinks it fits better. Any downsides in picking the 39.5mm 8800 versus the larger? Thoughts welcome. This is for eveyday use including work.
I'm a huge fan of the PO, I wanted black as well but my AD only had blue in the new 8900. I believe blue is more versatile than some think. It can go from a dark gray to bright blue depending on the light. I have the 43.5mm my wrist is 7" around. The many shades of PO blue ZrO2...
This one is the 2500C variant with 42mm case, and it's much thinner than the newer versions 😉
Obviously this is a very personal decision in the end but from the images you posted, it looks like the 39.5 may be slightly better for your wrist, although this depends a bit on how tall you are, body proportions etc etc.....
As for the colour, I ultimately went with the black, although I was really torn between the 2. The black just seemed a little more versatile and a little less flashy. I also couldn't un-see the black date wheel against the blue dial which just doesn't look quite right to me.
I have a medium wrist and love the big size cases..39mm it's to small in my opinion. 42mm it's my lower limit..😀
or my new purchase:
The 39 looks like a good size for your wrist. How is thickness?
It’s a fair bit slimmer than the 43 which is main reason I like it more.
I’ll play the devil’s advicate here and I’ll say that the thickness of the 42mm PO 8500 is not an issue for me. I wear it with sneakers and when on the beach. The PO plays its part very well, especially on oem rubber. It’s always nice to have a thick sporty and playful watch in the collection. It’s a very specialized timepeace.
The choice between sizes is all about two things: the proportions of the watch vis-à-vis your own wrist size, and your personal preferences on the various looks. Also, your preferences can change over time. With my 7.75” wrists I’ve always gone for larger watches. I liked a big wrist presence. Now, however, I lean toward a more balanced look. I no longer want people to notice my watch first as I enter a room. For me I think around 42mm is my sweet spot. Oddly, I don’t have any 42mm watches. 40mm Rolex GMT2- my lower limit for preferred watch size, and a 44mm Speedmaster- my upper limit. There is no substitute for trying a watch in though.
