Hello All,

first time posting in the forum. good to be here.

was hoping to get some advice from you all and hear your thoughts.

i currently have a Stainless Steel Submariner Date, a two tone daytona which my wife has hijacked LOL, and a two tone submariner which is a very special watch to me. i also own a Speedmaster with a leather strap which doesnt get worn as much as id like due to the fact that its not automatic and as stupid as it may sound, it is annoying to constantly be on the go and forget if it is winded or not, etc.

the stainless steel submariner is a great everyday watch for me and is a watch that i do like. i understand that it is an iconic piece and i do enjoy it, however i cant say i am attached to it. i have the two tone submariner as well which i do love and enjoy.

the omega moonphase watch is a watch i have been in love with for a few years. went to an omega boutique yesterday and tried it on and it just fit like a glove. looks great with jeans, looks incredible with a suit. i just love it.

the question i have is: should i sell my submariner to fund this new speedmaster purchase? almost everyone i have spoken to has told me to not sell a rolex, especially a stainless sub the way the market is now. worst case- i can sell my current speedmaster although i probably wouldnt get too much for it on the secondary market which almost makes it pointless to sell and that can be a true tool watch.

any help is appreciated

Since you asked, I'll give my opinion, which admittedly is not worth a whole lot. I'm not a fan of the moonphase and would not sell the sub.

I am a big fan of 5-digit Subs and GMTs. I would not sell a neo-classic like yours.
I'd sooner sell the two tone Sub... But you seem to be very attached to it, so...

Find a way to add the Moonphase if you're so in love with it. Not quite my cup of tea. The only Moonphase Speedy I like is the old one based on the Speedy Pro.... But it's your choice what counts, not mine.

I would also sell the two tone before the Steel Sub. I am not partial to the Moonphase but my opinion is more based on my feelings towards the sub versus two tone sub.

If you do not use the Speedy and really want the moon phase that is totally a good compromise. Any delta between the Lowe sale value of the speedy and the moon phase will likely be absorbed by the added value the sub will have in the next year or two alone.

So if you're thinking economics it's about getting rid of a lower value asset to retain a greater value asset even at the cost of adding cash to the purchase.

In other words:

What is more. The cash you have to add if you sell the speedy to buy the moon phase or the possible increase on value of the Sub?

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks so much for the reply

Don't sell any of the Rolex's for an Omega moonphase. Just save up and buy it outright if you want one. Hang on to the Rolex's.

haha I would sell the TT Daytona, but the TT sub is a watch I will keep for life. It is my fathers watch and holds a lot of meaning to me
