This came up as one of those "suggestions for you" while I was killing some time on the chrono24 website I don't own any Universal Genève watches and sadly, don't know as much as I would like about the brand, beyond being aware of a rich history. This one caught my eye purely for it's uniqueness and attractive dial, and what seems to be a reasonable price Here is some info from the ad.... Reference: 698.400 Dimensions: 39.5 mm excluding original crown Movement Type: very fine self winding caliber UG 98 in very good working condition Case: stainless steel and solid yellow gold (BEZEL) Crystal: Sapphire Seller does not indicate date of manufacture, looks more modern than vintage to me? Thanks
Definitely modern. If that is a real UG, the brand has definitely fallen on hard times. That bezel is hideous IMO. Looks like a Valjoux 7750 layout. Edit: Did a quick search and it looks legit. Although most photos show a tachy bezel. I suspect that the UG 98 is a lightly modified 7750. Not from UG's golden years.
