Well got my !958 seamaster back did not know how the watch worked, lol as i had never worn it before was my dads, thought it was date month , nice people on the thread told me no its min and hours, had to drive 60 miles back to watch master to pick up, it works great now, looks very clean especially the dial ( original) they replaced the main spring, the crown, both stop watch buttons and a proper omega crystal and new water proof o rings . cost 1700 for repair. let me know what you Think. shone uv and only hands light up and stay light for a while, does not have dots on end of hour pointers, has the Canadian made stretchy flexoflex band it came with , and a newer omega box not original

The dial looks clean because it was repainted at some point. The repair cost $1700? Seriously or is there a running joke I am not party to. That is pretty pricy.

thats what I'd call 'taking the oval-o (and oval-everything) to the next level'...

don't think so been in storage for 50 years and the watch maker said he did not touch it.

that dial is d e f i n a t e l y redone.

I guess it was changed 51 - 60 years ago then. That isn't remotely original, the hands either. I can explain why if you want but I have a feeling this whole thread is trolling...

no trolling, the watch was worn by my dad for only a few years, he received it from Alcan in 1959 then kept in storage, since probably 1964 when I got it the dial was perfect. no marks or damage, being water proof and kept in a sealed bag that's what it it is.

Better for sure but still a scary amount even for a vintage chrono service. Ouch! Well at least you have it back and working. As I say, there are major parts that have been changed somewhere along the line which would effect its value at resale negatively but since you presumably have no intention of selling it, that becomes part of its back-story and something to cherish rather than resent. On the bright side, it is unique!

Compare the outer ring of your watch' dial with the picture which @eugeneandresson posted above, his says tachymetre.

That "1 MILE" is not necessarily wrong, it's just calibrated for miles instead of kilometers.
