Overall, some pretty weak results for the Speedmasters up for sale in Hong Kong at Phillips today. One sale that really fell flat was this 2915-2, which sold for HK$240K, or about USD$30.7K.

Thanks! Others here probably follow these things more closely than I do. But I had a chance to see these pieces yesterday at the auction preview and so was paying a bit more attention than normal.

The 3 Million Speedy is a scandal. I had this watch in my fingers before it looked like it was in auction.
It had a much later movement, wrong bezel and green lume.

Interesting, did not see that one in person.
Unless the Phillips 2915 was just as bad, someone got a very sweet deal. I mean, it was only about $5K more than someone paid for these FP Journe toy figurines at the Christies auction earlier this month. https://www.christies.com/lot/lot-6...k&intObjectID=6394569&from=salessummary&lid=1

I see.
Questionable hour/min hands
Questionable pushers
Questionable case back.
Fake no 6 ends.
Wrong crown.

Thank you @td69 -- I see there is quite a history of discussion concerning this particular piece already. It seems that in the earlier discussion it was generally agreed this was a mediocre example of a rare reference with questions around some authenticity of certain parts (as I gather is often the case with references this old). Rough dial condition was another issue. Still, fascinating that the last price fetched was already seen as at the low end, and this latest sale was for exactly half as much as last time.
Attaching a little price chart as a visual aid. Prices in USD, including premiums.

So… do watches make good investments for my retirement account? 😉 😝
