Just sold at Phillips HK, and I was going to bid, but Phillips did not return my request asking for daylight photos and confirmation that the scratch was not on the dial.

The colour looks fantastic to me, and if those scratches were on the crystal, then I think the watch sold under market at HKD 107,000 or about $13,700.

I just could not decide from the photos if the dial was clean.

It has a nice DO90 bezel, and is apparently in very good condition.

Colour looks really lovely.

There were some other speedmasters in the sale, but this was the one I wished I had bought.

Whatever it is it is under the crystal IMO but scratch or fiber of some sort is hard to tell. I would lean towards scratch but the extension onto the sub dial is what would make me wonder about a thread/cat hair. But too many hard angles and straight lines, I'd say scratched dial but could be wrong. I think you nailed it, if its a scratch its expensive, if a hair its cheap. Quite a gamble, I wouldnt have taken it because I lean towards scratch, + no response to questions = I would surely not have bid.

Comparing the scratches in the straight on shot vs the photo at an angle, the scratches appear to be on the crystal at first glance. Although one would really need to look carefully to be sure that was true of every single scratch.

Looking at the side angle I think it is under the hands, but hard to tell without it in hand

You should compare the apparent positions of the scratches in straight on and angled shots. If they are on the dial, they don't move. I can identify the same scratches in both photos, and they move.

I see what you mean 👍
But to my eye, some move and some dont (seconds sub dial, but thats the one I think may be a hair)...so I really dont know 😀

Saw that. Kept going back to it looking for issues and it got prettier each time I looked at it. Figured you'd buy it so I had no chance 😉.

I guess two people can't own the same watch but two people can share the one that got away.

Congrats to the buyer.

I agree with Dan it looks like the scratches are on the crystal based on how they move depending on camera angle. Is it normal for the end links to have this much play? Bend them back for an easy fix? Just curious as it jumped out at me.

Probably not a problem but always makes me think that the bracelet was added for the auction.

I saw this watch in person the day before the auction and it was outstanding. Amazing condition. This to me was the best of the speedmasters up for auction that day. I put in an absentee bid but fell short.

Nothing like the Phillips one.
The one you post;
Is not even brown.
Is not graduated brown.
Is an obvious relume.
Is a modern dial.

No similarities that I can see whatsoever.

The watch is gorgeous and for what I see, the scratches seems to be on the glass.
