Original Railmaster?

Hi there,

We’ve recently inherited what appears to be an original Railmaster, however upon doing some basic research were unable to find a model number. The case on the back is completely bare, and we are yet to open it up to see a serial number. It had the double link bracelet when stretched out.

Hoping to get more photos soon.

The box is very distinctive although doing a reverse Google image search I can’t find any results, does anyone know the best place to go to have this valued? Any more information would be very much appreciated!

Thank you

What an absolute beauty. Seems all original and in great condition from those few pics. Look forward to seeing more photos and hearing from the real experts!

WOW, cool.

The box and tag are from a much later watch.

There are several members here which know these quite well and I'm sure will be glad to help.

Stunning piece! Looks even better than the example on display at the Omega Museum, IMO.

As @X350 XJR said, that tag is not contemporary to the watch

Stunning!
Was the watch always in your family?

It’s actually only just come into our family, it’s been hidden in a drawer of an elderly friend who passed away aged 97. Don’t believe it’s been touched in about 20 years since her husband died. It was a completely unexpected find.

Looks nice. I guess the reference is 2914. Only let a good watchmaker attempt to open it, don’t try it yourself!

We’ve taken the back off - photos attached.
Am I right to assume this is a pretty rare find?
The watchmaker was amazed at the condition and commented that it looks like new inside..

Holy cats! Incredible. You should know that bracelet, too, is quite valuable, as are the end links (the parts that connect the bracelet to the watch). And: yes, it's a very rare find in *any* condition, much less the excellent condition this one's in.

If this is your way of asking if it's valuable, the answer is yes. Nice watch.

Thanks all for the complimentary comments and help!
We will be looking at a professional valuation and to sale privately, but if anyone knows of any previous sales of this model with the original box included, that’ll be much appreciated! ☺️

I do not believe that the box in your photos is original to the watch, nor the tag. It would probably be best to sell the watch on its own.

I don’t think a professional valuation will be much use. Firstly they often insure for insurance which is generally 3-5x market value and secondly most values won’t know how to value this piece.
I’d either contact an established auction house in your country or some well known vintage watch dealers.

Noted, will do!
