I am willing to try to see if hands FOIS goes up, but it seems hard to find.
Is it possible to buy parts at Omega and what is the exact size of 2998 hands?

Here's a pic of what Fois hands look like.

You could try a boutique, though they may not sell the hands unless you do a service.. I tried to buy just a dial once and they wouldn't sell it alone.

You could try contacting ebay seller abouttime-ch, or look up Ernst Westphal online. They seem to be able to find parts.

It's value is in its parts.

The case is the most valuable thing.

The movement is not for me. Look at the colour difference in the bridges. I do not think they left the factory together.

Nor did much else on this watch.

You better off breaking and selling the parts on eBay in this market

I think Archer wrote at one time (or some other sage on OF) that discoloration isn't always hint of any foul play. That said, I like the watch from the perspective of @gemini4 ..... After a while this aspect of collecting / the hobby starts to seem very appealing. If someone was to build a Speedy, this is likely a great reference to do it!!!!

Gemini4 does have a good point. If you were able to find a modern pre pro dial and had it aged (literally, bake it in an oven til the lume turns orange), that would fit better as the modern dials are domed, like the original 2998-1 dials would have been.

It could be nice lookin', even if not 'correct'.

It might be even better with a little aging hands and dial.
It's strange but the FOIS hands are very similar to hands of this 2998-1.
The hands of 2998-4 look more like the photo of Gemini.

The FOIS is a modern rendition of the 2998. I like to think the 2998-4, but was probably the -5.

Btw, the base 1000 bezel that @oddboy jokingly mentioned is not only in poor - fair condition and overpriced. It is also a less, IMHO, desirable style 1 base 1000 bezel as it is not a dot over 90 (DON) bezel. Style 2 base 1000 is a DON.
