That's what I'm looking for! A big beefy heavy diver, whilst saving up for the SM300 馃槈 Where did you get the 40% discount if I may ask? 馃槣

The 40% I saw was the grey market and I believe the website was Jomashop. If you look up the SM300 on there, I'm pretty sure there would be a pretty nice discount. BTW, I only buy my watches at my AD. I like to keep people employed 馃槈

Buy a Seiko...

Wear the shit out of it, and save, save, save.

Take the saving time to learn more about watches, the market, and how to acquire them.

When the time is right, get a great watch at a great price/value.

Nothing wrong with Tag...just you can do so much more with the money if you have some knowledge.

This x 100! You also might find your watch tastes change after you really get into it.

For example my first watch was my most expensive, and currently gets the least amount of wrist time. The Rolex 1655 Orange Hand Explorer II, was the first watch that really peaked my interest, and a few years ago Rolex decided to "remake" it. I went down to look at it and hated the newer version, the proportins and dial did nothing for me. In the next case over I saw the Planet Ocean Chrono with the Orange bezel and fell in love. I love the watch, but today if I was going to spend that much money on a watch I would look at something different.

Granted the 300 SMC is pretty timeless, I'd venture a surprisingly larger number of people here then you would think own a Seiko 5 or Diver. Those Seikos are watches that pretty much every watch guy respects. If its good enough for Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now (6105 turtle), Ed Harris in the Abyss (6139 turtle), Robert Redford in All is Lost (almost a co-star of the film SKX009 on Blue NATO), and Mick Jagger for awhile in the 80's (another 6139) its good enough for everyone!

Great advice. You might also want to take a look at the Orient Mako and its variants.

Maybe take a look at some JDM(Japan domestic market) seiko watches, as have a bit of rarity about them, not to expensive (relatively) and pretty bomb proof/well made , here's my sbdc003 'blumo'

Also there is a 1981 seiko 6309 for sale on this forum at the moment that might be worth considering?

Love it, in fact I'm 90% sure that's what Im going to do! Going to look for a SKx007 or 009, just need to find one at the right price! What price should I expect to pay for a 009 or 007?

Hahah love this. Opened my eyes a hell of a lot. Decided to stop moping around feeling sorry for not being able to get the SM300, take the plunge and purchase a SKX007 or 009 I think. Just need to find the right one at the right price!

Skx go for about @200-220. Jomashop had a 007 for 190. Once you factor shipping Amazon might be a better choice.

Agreed! The Aquaracer is a solid watch for everyday wear and tear. Never ever pay full price for it and like I said in a previous post, you can get them at a heavy discount.

Here's mine that I usually wear on the weekends 馃憤

My first good watch was a TAG Heuer F1, my brother's first was too, I think half the watch nerds I know got their start on a TAG Heuer and even a lot of the watch site owners.

Its sort of like Honda for motorcycles, I don't care what kind of Harley or Ducati or BMW you ride now, if you're into bikes you've almost certainly thrown your leg over a Honda at some point and for many that's what got them to where they are now, whether its what you used for your test, or learning or the first you owned for almost every bloke I know on a good bike they started with a Honda.

TAG Heuer really does that for Swiss watches with their robustness and every day wearability for such an affordable price.

I've never owned a TAG, just didn't appeal.

But my first bike was a Honda, and the second as well.
And the third, fourth, seventh, and ninth last before my BMW K100RT and now a Vespa 300GTS.

Mate I first heard it watching an interview with a Honda brand ambassador at Sturgis, he was getting heckled by a couple youngish guys on their custom choppers and he just shouts back "buddy don't pretend you didn't get your license on a Honda like every other guy here" and he turns to the camera and says "Its true too, the thing that made all of these guys love riding in the first place was the ability to turn the key and know it'll start first time and just ride, be comfortable and not worry, then build the confidence to want something bigger and faster down the line".

Since then I've asked so many blokes and they've almost always confirmed it.

look personally I like them but people have issues with them because they use generic movements unless you go for their higher end models
and because "its not a rolex" they were two separate companies back in the day. The company does have a heritage from racing they made good
chronographs back in the day the racers would use in Le mans stuff like that. don't let the rolex fan boys discourage you

Huer made watches Tag made other things. Tag purchased Huer in the 80's, today it's all owned by Louis Vitton.

Same here! The F1 was the first watch that started this watch collecting thing for me so TAG will always be the brand closest to me.

I have this fun saying at work for there are many hard core Omega fans who would bash me everytime I wear a TAG. I would point to my wrist and say 'first watch in space'....I would usually get a middle finger for that.

As for the future of TAG, I don't think it's looking good due to the fact that it's currently being held ransom by these two masked clowns....
