Ooooh, I LOVE that, that's gorgeous in my eyes. Of course, nothing will beat my SM300 Bond, but it's on very close par to it. Where am I best to look for to get discounts on the Aquaracers? Not too bothered what the "haters" say, at this moment in time, It's more about me getting a well made swiss rugged piece, where I will then be able to save up and get a more respected piece - after all, this is my first purchase 馃榾

Yea, it's a great watch. Well built, solid & weighs like a brick! When I go diving, I use this one over my Submariner. You can find Aquaracers on the grey market, should you take this course, for 40% off (this was the d ancient+aliens+title.jpg iscount the last time I checked). I got mine at my AD for 30% off taxes in 馃憤

I have seen Tags on display cases, the aqua racer is a really nice watch, nice finishing, good Swiss movements. I almost got me one, but I waited until I could get my grail watch, an Omega Seamaster 300 electric blue.

Have you looked at Squale, Steinhart more of a Rolex homages

Best regards,

Best regards,
Squale makes some great pieces. If you want a Sub clone I think their are better options the Steinhart.

My problem with a lot of modern Tags is they try to hard to make a modern watch and it ends up too busy. The new Speedmaster Racings nail the modern watch look and don't look busy. Granted they are $7200... but man they are great looking.

I like Seiko SKX but I would not buy a Tag heuer again. The depreciation on that watch is too great to bear. Should should get a sm300 used on in my opinion. I sold all my tags and moved to Omega and could not be any happier. The brand tag has got some bad rap in the year since they have used Seiko movement. Please go for Omega and u will be happy!!!

7 years ago they made a mistake calling something 100% inhouse when it was based on a high end Seiko movement would not stop me from buying a TAG.

I understand your point but I would not condemn them for it. TAG makes some nice pieces, and some not as nice pieces that have bad resale value.

In other news TAG makes a great F1 motor for red bull... ok it's a Renult... but they made a great one years ago... wait that was a Porsche motor... never mind.

I'm surprised how little love the TH 844 diver gets 馃榾

I recently sold one and had it for almost two years while saving up for my dream Rolex.

If you are after a diver that can take the dirt but you can wear it with a shirt as well then look no further. If you don't mind the size at 45 mm (crown included) then it's a nice diver to get.

And it's discontinued as it was produced only between 1985 and 1990. Reliable ETA2872 automatic movement, quick date set, aluminum bezel etc. [emoji1319]

If you're looking for the style of the 300/SMP rather than Omega you could spend some time looking at the Christopher Ward stuff.

It's so freakily like Omega I'm surprised the lawyers haven't knocked on the door yet.

No one here has bashed Tag...yet.馃槈 Had an Aquaracer myself, one of the best blue dials ever IMO!馃憤

Liked it a lot, like I said above one of the best blue dials (that this picture does not capture), bullet proof 7750 movement and very legible!馃憤 Ended up selling it because there were things I wanted more. Like any other watch company, there are things they do well and other things not so well.

On a different note those Seiko PADI watches (like that 009 too) are deffinetly getting my attention for a rugged do all watch!馃憤
Another great stunning pieces, really like that. Certainly one that if it came ont the market I would seriously think about purchasing. M aybe my initialsxcc
You don't justify, you rationalize. 馃槈 Your S.O., if you have one, will always point this out. 馃榾
Hahah not as yet, on my own with this one 馃槣

The Pogues not a diver but a vintage Chrono. In fact a specific color scheme on the first auto chronograph from Seiko and named after an astronaut. Vintage Seiko requires a bit of research to get the most out of your dollar. There are a lot of pieces together watches out there.

Basically there are 2 divers under $300 new for Seiko. The SKX and the new turtle aka SRP. The turtle rerelease is inspired from the 6309 diver from the 80's and a bit earlier.

They differ in case and slightly in movement. The SKXhas a more traditional case and the turtle has a slightly better movement with hacking and hand winding. Both are available in all black and Pepsi.

The PADI edition is a slightly different color scheme and I believe available on a few different Seiko. There is another limited edition SRP the Blue Lagoon which replaces the red with light blue.
Ah OK. Been looking into Seiko a little more, in my opinion, it's easier to find out information on the Seiko diver range as from what I've seen there aren't that many of them, they have a sturdy movement in all of their divers. The movements I've been recommended are the: 6R15, I'm not sure on which diver has that movement in, as I'm only marginally knowledgeable in swiss made movements from Omega and Longine for example 馃槣

Is it possible to get an older Seiko which is just as good as the new ones. I would still like a watch with a little more history that you get from the older pieces, ofI know they won't be as vintage as the Connies etc, but an older piece would appeal to me more I woulhavethought 馃榾

That's what I'm looking for! A big beefy heavy diver, whilst saving up for the SM300 馃槈 Where did you get the 40% discount if I may ask? 馃槣

That's a cool piece, I never knew that Certina was a swiss brand, always thought it was Japanese, interesting! I like the style of the DS-3, it's a different diver than what I've mostly seen, and I like it! 馃槣

Amazing, that's the one. I would be more than happy to own that whilst saving up, and getting the confidence in making the SM300 purchase later down the line. It's the style, size and colour that sells it. I also like it on both straps, the leather, and metal bracelet both wok really well together. Is the TH 844 it's on series or is part of the Aquaracer or 1000 for example - I'm completely new to the TAG market so knowledge is very limited for now! 馃槣

I've taken a look at the Sqaules etc and they are direct homages are, perhaps a little TOO much of an homage, in my opinion, thank you for your suggestion though, another brand I can add to the list! 馃槣

The best I know 844 divers were part of the 1000 series. If you're lucky enough you can get on with the old Heuer only logo. Though typically those are on the higher end of the price range. On the other hand if you're willing to settle for a quartz movement they are incredibly cheap on eBay for example.

Well, the Seiko 6139 movements don't lack for history, being the not-quite winners in the race to develop the first automatic chrono, with the Pogue in particular being a sort of sequel to the moonwatch (first AUTOMATIC chrono in space). Their styling tends to run to funky 70s colour schemes. If you want something with more of the classic mid-century feel of a Constellation, you could do worse than look at the more formal vintage King Seikos. Thought the line was short-lived they have an interesting technical and design heritage of their own, and while they don't look overtly rugged, they are reliable for vintage pieces. Also much more affordable than the equivalent Grand Seikos!

I see nothing wrong with a Tag. I think they make nice watches. I was just looking at a Link yesterday.

On the other hand I also like my Seiko Black Monster. 47 mm.
