    Hello all,
Basically im pretty bored this time of year so this has been keeping me busy.
this post is regarding an omega constellation but also an 18 K IWC.

I have recently been offered a trade for my constellation, this quite nice gold IWC, on a leather strap

My constellation comes with a box and the bracelet, he wants me to pay $500 on top of my watch.

Im considering it, i quite like things in solid gold.

I was just wondering if the Omega experts on here would consider such a trade for them selves, would i be losing out ? i do like my constellation quite a lot, its a good every day watch.

    And my connie

What is the size of the IWC? What value do you put on your Constellation?

I really need to know more about the IWC. If it's a jumbo cal 89 reference, it will be about 37mm. Or it could be 35mm. The difference in value is massive. If it's the former, the deal may be reasonable, assuming you like the IWC. If it's smaller, you shouldn't be giving any cash IMO.

just talked to him, he says it seems to be 35 mm to measure.
I am going to bother him for the calibre.
    Thanks Dan.

Those are very nice movements, but they generally came in smaller cases. I wouldn't be surprised if it were actually in the 34-35mm range. As you know, a 2mm difference can almost double the price, all else being equal. I think a straight up trade would be more appropriate for your Connie with bracelet. Just my opinion.

For me personally the IWC would be worth more then the connie. Although it's a nice connie the case design is'nt the most popular (IMHO). Are you sure you seen these sell for 1500-1800. I would value these more in the 1000-ish ballpark.

I've sold several similar IWC's in the 1500 euro range. But these were stainless steel with more lyre-ish shaped lugs and dauphine hands. I think those lugs and hands give a bit more elegance. There seems to be quite the market for iwc dress watches.

    Anyway, good luck!

Yes, this is a key question, and I should be clear that I didn't do any research on the Constellation value. I just took the OP at his word that he had research the value of that particular reference. If it's worth less, then I agree that the OP should kick in some cash. Maybe the buyer and seller can find an acceptable middle ground.

FWIW, the IWC is more appealing to me personally, since that particular Constellation style is not my favorite.

this is one of the points i was going off.
it says it sold for 2200 USD.
the other one i saw sold on Chrono for 1650 USD.
i am talking canadian dollars unless i state USD.

He wants my watch plus 500 canadian, but i may be able to talk him out of that.

Ok. I just used the convertor. So your 1800 CAD is app EUR 1250. Maybe it's possible to get this for your watch. Imo that would be the max.

I do however think the IWC is worth a bit more.

By the way, first two links with the japanese seller are saying not sold. And last link is from a professional dealer with 12 months warranty on a recent service. Hmmm.

This one was 7 months ago

Ah shoot.. "not sold" how did i miss that ?. Sorry for my ignorance. . i swore i clicked "sold listings"
at the top it says "the listing has ended because the item has sold" ?? weird

Dang.. well thank you for clarification ..
My connie did get serviced in november ($425) i dont have too much into the watch really..

so you personally, would trade for the IWC? with the price the one sold for 7 months ago, i should take the trade and run :0

By the way, you guys are an incredibly valuable resource.. i wish i could return the value somehow. Just know its appreciated.

I would keep the Connstellation and skip the IWC because the Connstelation is much nicer visually. But that's me.

I think I'm with Tom on this one. If the IWC had a different case design the choice would be different. But again, that's personal and just my opinion. More important is, what do you want?

    A 401 in 18k sold on ebay for $710

Your model in a gold plated case sold for $555

To me. Not the most popular case. Round case Connie would be a different story

Ignore the delusionals asking ridiculous prices for watches that will never sell. Easy to mark it sold and then relist it a few months later

I would give him the Omega with $175 and take the IWC if you want it, but make sure the IWC is running and keeping time

You can do a completed Ebay search and show him the sale prices of the Omega and IWC
