·When I purchased a 62MAS from one of my favorite OF members several years ago, I remember telling him that it looked so fine that I felt I might be nervous wearing it. He dismissed the idea, saying "It's not NOS." Well, ok, maybe it's not NOS, but it's not far from it ... mint maybe? Not a scratch, not a dent, unpolished, perfect dial and bezel. I wore it a few times, but I was always self-conscious about it.
The solution was obvious in retrospect ... buy another example that is good enough to enjoy, but not too good. Mission accomplished. A few marks on the dial markers, a scratch or two on the bezel, swirls on the lugs, minor polishing. Perfect for wearing! As a little bonus, the wearer came with its original waffle strap, but I've already removed it to save for posterity. 😝
Who else does this. Come on, admit it! I've realized I have several other pairs like these, and I can't be the only one ... I hope.
