I'm 50 today, and there could only be one watch to wear: This was my second 'proper' watch, bought with the help of a good friend on another forum. I've been fortunate to have had a few speedmasters since but this is the closest to my birthday in terms of age and is a definite keeper. I was chatting about my fondness of Speedmasters with my landlord and he dug out an old copy of the National Geographic magazine from December 1969 (his father used to collect them). Alongside a great 62 page feature on the moon landing and Apollo 11, it has some super advertising for the Omega watches available at the time. Interestingly, the Speedmaster in the ad still has the dot over 90 bezel which we all get so excited about! No prices on the advertisement but I reckon if you bought one new in 1969 you'd be pretty pleased with your investment 50 years on. Have a great day everyone.
Happy birthday to you, a mere youngster! My parents paid £65 for my 21st birthday Ed White in 1967 quite a lot at the time, but not in comparison to today’s value!
