Hi everyone, I'm totally new to the world of Omega (and watches in general) so I could use your help. I'm buying an Omega watch as a remembrance of my grandfather who passed away 2 weeksago. He was a huge Omega fan. I've got my eye on a watch that is likely to have been built around his birthyear 1938. Would you mind checking if this watch is a legit Omega? Thanks!

I think the asking price is probably ok. Overall, the condition is only so-so, but it's legit, and if the watch is aesthetically appealing to you, that's important. The main issue is whether the movement will be a money pit, because it does look rough in a way that suggests water damage. You will probably need to find an experienced watchmaker and be prepared to pay your original investment again in repairs. It could be less, but I'd go into it assuming that the movement could need some work.
