I wonder how much of the original movement is left or how damaged it may look after the quoted "water damage"?
There looks like rust stains inside the stem tube.

Wow, wtf...

PLEASE, don't EVER send a vintage watch to the watchmaker who did this to your baby.

You are SO lucky you got the old parts. The watch as is now has lost all of its vibe and a lot of its value. So please, reassemble it and it is going to be a fantastic piece again!

Good luck...

The bag of parts Omega returned to you is worth more than the watch is now.

The sad apart is it wasn't a random watchmaker, the service was done by Omega in Switzerland. I am starting to understand the logic though, KEEP IT ORIGINAL.... Would. Omega in NYC be able to put all the orinal parts back in?

If Omega did it - and frankly it could only be Omega nowadays (I hope) then it is unlike they will.

I am sure your old case needs a little work, and may not ever be waterproof - which is one reason why Omega will have replaced the case.

You need a sympathetic vintage watchmaker.

I am sure some of our NY members would flag someone up for you ...

The work was done back in 2009 by Omega and had to be sent to Switzerland. Any info on a local watchmaker would be appreciated. Preferably someone old school and honest.

Wtf? Thank God everything is still there!

Put humpty dumpty back together again, and sell the service case, bezel, and parts.

Bizarre...

+1!

Bizarre it is. Luckily the watch this time can be restored

Quite strange to see that Omega replaced everything like that. :whipped:

Maybe AlphaO will tell the rest of the story; about how he acquired the watches and what he sold, changed his mind , then changed it again. I for one would like to hear the whole story about the sale.

Nactex - your going to be holding your breath for a long time, I owe you nothing. Especially after I expressed to you that I didn't know much about these watches and you offered me $200 for the parts.... Talk about taking advatage. You would have preferred to steal my parts rather than point me in the right direction like these fine folks have. If you had your way this watch would have never been whole.... Why don't you tell that story....

I recommend Lewis Watch Co, Perth, Western Australia.
He specialises in Omega and case rejuvenation.

T<25 This watch was not purchased from eBay but as watchlovr mentioned there does appear to be rust on the stem tube..

Since you want to post emails, here part of the story:

"Did you buy any other watches at the estate sale? Thanks

Yes but I'm keeping that one.

Beautiful dial. It is too bad they had it serviced and put a new(wrong) bezel and hands on it. You might want to go back and see if they kept the original parts.

It s funny you should say that. I know nothing about watches but it came with a bag of old parts. Looked like they all belonged to this watch.

If you are happy with the way the watch looks,I would consider buying your bag of parts. Is you want to sell the bag of parts, send me a picture and a price. Out of curiosity, what did you give for each watch? Thanks

I paid $40 for a seamaster 300 and $300 for the speedmaster with parts. The bracelet was thrown in for nothing. I don't know a lot about watches but I knew it was a great deal and the seller either knew less than me or just didn't care. I have attached a photo of the parts but think I should probably hold onto them. Since you seem to know your stuff would you be able to give me an idea of the value?

You got a great buy on your watches. The picture is too small and dark to get a real good idea of what the condition of the parts is, but if you would take $200 for them I would take them. Let me know. thanks

I just saw that you backed out of the sale on the sm300. Why would you do that? Did some one offer you more for the watch after the sale?"

I think I was pretty above board. AlphaO never answered the question about why he canceled the original sale to Michael e.

What I did with Michael E and how we resolved our situation is none of your business. What is obvious is you reaching out to me in messages through one of my other listing all sneaky, down playing the value of my parts and offering to buy them. Not the mention getting the jump on anything else I may have bought. For the record you came into this post pasting links and pointing fingers. Do us all a favor now and go away, this post is about restoring a vintage Speedmaster not dismantling it and selling it for parts.

I don't think you are being honest and playing the poor pitiful me newbe, please help me, and canceling sales to members of the forum. I have been here a lot longer than you, so don't tell me to bug off. I don't think you are owed any favors from this forum. If members want to help you, that is up to them, but they at least need to know what kind of person you are.
