The original 'Paul Newman' Daytona is rare today because it was not liked originally, sat on store shelves unsold... today they hit records at auction.
I'm perfectly fine being 'different' in actually liking this watch while most people hate it.
I have always been drawn to the colours of the MK40 (sounds like most of the OF community doesn't... fine by me)
I prefer the 3 subdials at 3, 6 and 9 positions (so this version is better for me than the MK40)
I like simpler dials (so this version again better, others seem to prefer the complications of the MK40... yet few want to own one...
🤔 )
I very much like the bubbly alpha numerals (see my current avatar from my Bulova diver).
If I had designed this watch, I would have minimized or eliminated the seconds marking around the perimeter of the dial and moved the numerals outward and then I would have made them a beautiful fauxtina as we see on lovely vintage watches. (that's just me, and I know I'm pretty much on my own for liking this thing in the first place... my teachers always told me I was a bit '
different'..)
