I think there might be a technical limitation for the Speedy dial case construction not being able to support a domed sapphire crystal, for a 13K CHF/USD watch, I would have expected it to be honest.

Looks like a 2000/yr production run and appeal limited to the WIS community, I think they should not be hard to get after the initial surge, especially if the a new Snoopy (much wider market appeal) becomes the new focus later on during the year.

Wonder if they will keep the hesalite on the new SS 3861 and if that version will offer a sapphire sandwich option. I might be tempted if they keep it at around US$6-7K (Explorer price range).

I agree on the domed the crystal - the new Bond watch looks like it has one so a shame they couldn't make it work on this.

My OB just got back to me. They'll start delivering the watch at the end of February and it's gonna cost 12900€ in Germany.

BIG question then - This or an original 105.003-64 as they are in the same price area?? and will it make the original more desirable??

55 minutes power reserve... but how does the DOT 90 bezel differ from the 1960s version ?
This bezel one has a ceramic insert so is very different!

I've requested a place in the line, yes I might have to wait a while and the price is a bit more than I wanted the watch to come in at but if I want a SS Rolex it is an 18-24 month waiting list at a minimum for anything popular so I might as well join the Omega line and wait for this with that iconic movement.

Good question and one lot's will be asking..

the security of a new watch with warranty and no maintenance for a few years, or the character and patina of a vintage piece,

if you wear the heck out of a new one to give it patina, the value will drop - balance that against the maintenance costs of a vintage example

I‘m trying to see something special in this apart from the reintroduction of the 321...
I‘m quite disappointed to be honest.
I had my hopes up high that they would come up with an all new, refreshed Speedmaster with updated materials and the classic 321 caliber.

A Zro2 Dial, with Applied logo, ceramic don, domed sapphire (albeit this looks like it’s not suffering from the „milky ring“ like the normal sapphire sandwich) an updated bracelet, a beautifully SS caseback, in the modern asymmetric case and marketed higher up in the price range. (Well, they succeeded in the price point...)

Instead this looks kind of uninspired to me.
It‘s a beautiful watch, don’t get me wrong, but it looks just too much like a reedition, just an updated ed-white.
I was hoping for a true contender against the SS/Ceramic Daytona, but this ain’t it, apart from its price (And I‘m not a Rolex fan boy by any means.)

Let’s hope they come up with other SS versions of the new 321.

Cheers,

Max

Beautiful watch, but not 13,000 beautiful to me. Seems like there’s plenty of competition at that price and makes the Trilogy pieces seem like a relative bargain. But a fine watch for those who can afford it.

Well UK price is £11,300, its almost like Omega priced it in line with the original, if good 105.003's were £6K I think this reissue would be cheaper..

For £11k you could buy a FOIS, .005 and a sapphire sandwich and still have change. I think I will give this a miss and look fora decent MK ii.

I really like the look of the watch, but at around £11k in the UK!! That’s crazy money. I’ll stick with my fifty three year old 105.003.65 which is probably the same money!

I like it. Price is where I expected it to be. $13K worth of like? Hmmmm. Will it be “available” as in Rolex sport available? 😗

Lovely watch and congratulations on owning such a great watch.

My issue is that I don't want a 53 year old watch, I looked at getting a vintage watch, early 60's to be my birth year watch, but after doing some research I decided that the vintage watch scene wasn't for me. I had to admit that I liked the idea of being the first to own, the first to wear any watch that I bought, I wanted to be the one to get the scratches and dings on the watch and not inherit them from someone else. So any watch I buy will be new, therefore the launch of the new SS 321 Speedmaster appeals a lot to me.

I am going to join the queue, I will have to wait a while to get to the front of the queue but that's fine. The new 321 looks good in my eyes, how does it compare to the original, I don't know and to be honest its not something that I am going to worry about, the watch appeals to me and that it what is important.

Enjoy your vintage Speedmaster I hope that you will be together for many years to come.

Lovely watch but at £11k - no dice for me.

May get the FOIS conversion for half the price though...

$14,100 + tax means it's over $15,000 and yes, it will be Rolex sport available. Expect to see none in dealer stock unless you have previously bought stuff from them, and they will be available on the grey market for Daytona type prices, $23,000 or so.
