1000?? wow, that's low!

That's a Panerai move. Not limited edition, but limited production. It's all marketing.

Yes and no. From the early 321 "revival" articles the tooling for the movement is separate and it's assembled end to end by a single watch maker. Still machine made and likely finished parts of course but a far cry from the usual technician based assembly line.

They quoted yearly production capacity at 2000 but some of this would be shared with the Platinum version.

As I believe Archer pointed out elsewhere, that is essentially what a watchmaker does whenever they fully service a watch. So consider that when figuring what the cost bump should be -- it is not something that should add thousands of dollars to the watch.

I love the new Ed White 321, except for the 19mm lugs, and of course the 13k price tag. Watch prices are getting out of control. It reminds me of overbought securities. We all know they are simply not worth this much money.

Yes. On the 60th anni Seamaster and Railmaster Trilogy LE watches. Ironically the Speedmaster Trilogy has an acrylic crystal but I think Omega are moving away from that as it is increasingly difficult to market on a 5 figure piece which this surely will be. Here is the RM sapphire crystal.

As a vintage guy, it’s too bad watch companies don’t use plexi more often. There’s a certain “warmth” and distortion to the dial which cannot be seen with sapphire. Also plexiglas is super easy to buff out and rarely would you worry about chipping

This is from the email:

“Priced at $14,100, this exceptional piece of history is not a limited edition, but only an estimated 1,000 units will be produced worldwide annually. Due to the exceptionally high demand only avid enthusiasts who have placed a full deposit are guaranteed to receive their piece.”
I think their claim that it is a 'piece of history' is something of a stretch...

Not a limited edition, but limited nonetheless....classic demand marketing.

From my experience, I’ve been happily watching my old 321 tick away with a Preik clear caseback. This new one is going to bring a lot of enjoyment to owners with an OE caseback.
