Guys, I'm in the UK and a Speedy cal. 321 owner (October 2020 watch). Just joined this amazing Community. 馃榾

I wanted to share some really great customer service from Omega.

My watch had been running slow over the past year or so and I was just ignoring it. About 15 seconds a day slow. Not tragic, but it was bugging me.

So it was approaching the end of the 5 yr warranty and I decided to take it into Omega (Omega Boutique in Oxford Street, London). It turned out that I had turned up about 4 weeks AFTER the end of the warranty period. No idea how I did that. 馃檨

Anyway, long story short - my watch was sent away to Bienne (I was told it might take 7 to 9 months!) On examination Omega accepted it was indeed running out of spec and they agreed to honour the warranty anyway.

Icing on the cake - the watch was returned to me in just over 2 months, with a fresh 2 year warranty! 馃榾 Omega, we salute you!

Honestly, my experience with Omega service has been fantastic. I've always gone through the OB, but they have been wonderful as far as helping out.

Which is different than my Rolex experience where I brought it into an AD in the last month of the warranty (because it managed to go from 'perfect timing' to 'loses ~45s/day' in about 3 days, RIGHT at the end, joys of a 32xx). It took some convincing for Rolex to be willing to fix it (And did so as a 'one time courtesy' after some fighting!) because they wouldn't get a chance to look at it until the warranty had ended 馃榿

I turned it into the AD on a Monday, Rolex received it on the next Saturday, warranty ended Sunday, and they wouldn't look at it until the week started. Thus it was "out of warranty". Very frustrating experience!

Omega did a solid for you. My 321 Ed White warranty is up next month, so I've been wearing it to see if there are any issues, but it is running strong (+2 sec/day, crown up at night), chrono works fine, so no need for an Omega intervention at this time. Hopefully I'll get a few more years out of it before it needs a full service.

I don't have a lot of experience with Rolex service but it was good the one time I used it. My wife wore her 2007 DJ for about 14 years with no issues, then it became very erratic, so sent it off to the RSC in Dallas for a complete overhaul. About $900, came back looking great and running fine, with a two year warranty. At 2.75 years it suddenly stopped and it couldn't even be manually wound...dead. Called the RSC and complained and they said to send it back. In about three weeks it was returned, running perfectly, that was about two years ago, no charge. Documentation only said, 'checked watch'. So Rolex fixed whatever the issue was even though it was well out of warranty. Roll of the dice sometimes.

Wow, that really is excellent customer service. I would highly suspect that if you were in the market for another watch or two, this experience would keep you in the Omega family, and thus they know that its in their best interest to err on the side of appeasement. Enjoy that 321! It's stunning.

Did you happen to have the watch polished as well?

I have my 321 warranty that鈥檚 about to expire, and I was thinking of sending it to Bienne as well for a full service. Did you happen to have the watch polished as well?

I've had good experience with Omega service as well, warranty as well as paid refurbishing/repairs. My only experience with Rolex service was in the 90s when I had a Tudor sub. It came back twice looking better than new, and keeping perfect time. I mean it did not gain or lose anything over a week.

If you are paying for the service you can have what you like. The OP was able to claim on the warranty. When they rectify a watch under warranty Omega do not polish the watch. This is one of the reasons warranty repairs are much quicker than regular service work.

@ErichKeane As you know, the Rolex caliber 32xx is notorious for breaking down. My DSSD 136660 is a 32xx cal and ran 20 seconds out of spec. Luckily, it was still under warranty and was repaired "at the spa" for Rolex servicing for roughly three months. Now, it runs perfectly.

This is usually the case but not always. I had to send my Bond 60th back for a crown issue. Admittedly the watch wasn't very old and hadn't been worn a great deal. But Omega completed a full service including refinishing under warranty.

Interesting. Where in the world are you? Perhaps it varies. In the UK I鈥檝e never heard of or encountered this. Fine I suppose as long as you are happy for it to occur but I鈥檓 guessing they didn鈥檛 ask first?

I'm in the UK. No I didn't ask. It was sent in under warranty for the issue and then Omega decided to do a complete service.

I鈥檝e also had a good experience - I live in Zurich so went to the boutique there. They always kept me updated and honoured my specific requests, and called me when needing further input. Thought I understand why some are wary sending their vintage watches over.
