At least Pepe can get on a list. Forgive my upcoming rant but it needs to be said lol. Rolex ADs in Toronto have taken away the list altogether (at least that's what I and 8 other people have been told by 7 separate ADs in the Toronto and surrounding areas, in addition to Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary). They now require that you make other purchases at the store before "allowing" you to buy the steel Daytona. One AD told me a minimum of about $80k (all currency in CDN) needs to be spent...not annually, in one sitting! If you spend that, on watches they suggest mind you (they prefer you make a precious metal purchase(s), etc.), then they'll let you buy the Daytona (or Pepsi, Sky-dweller, Hulk). The only way to avoid the one sitting spending spree is if you're an extraordinary customer who has been either buying watches from the AD regularly for decades or someone who spends hundreds upon hundreds of thousands at their boutique annually. I was actually disgusted by the move. I get the business calculation but I'm still disgusted by it. I told the AD that I love Rolex but if I wanted to spend $80-100K+ I'd be at Patek, VC, AP, A. Lange, F.P Journe, and the like. That or go grey market (not that I would), at least then you're out of pocket far less. During one of my visits to the AD I actually saw a customer pick up his Daytona--he made four other purchases (in precious metal, don't know what, and I was told for his son, wife, and mother). I guess the only good thing would be if you're at an AD that also has the brands I mentioned above. Then you can pick one of those boys up and hopefully a steel Daytona as a result. We'll see if I can do that down the line. But for now, if you're even on a list Pepe, count yourself lucky. That AD is far more ethical, and less greedy, than anyone I can find here in Toronto (or the other cities mentioned). Which is sad because the Daytona is a dream watch for me that I want to hold, cherish, enjoy and pass on to my kids but, despite having the financial means to get it at retail, I won't be able to buy it (well maybe one day, if/when I climb into Patek/A. Lange buying levels and can get a Dayton 'thrown' in). So congrats on being on the list, I'd happily wait a few years or 10 if I could just get on a list to buy the damn thing lol.
Wow that will be confusing as they also have a 3201 movement. A modified 3311 co-axial movement, minus the date function of the 3311. A manual wound chronograph, which was modified and upgraded to a 3203 movement. All very similar names, but as you say probably not all that close (apart from evolution wise) to the original 321
We'll see. If by "Omega" you mean any person working at Omega other than the front-desk clerck, then yes, I can tell you that Omega did say this to me, no later than 6 hours ago. Now, as a disclaimer, I cannot pretend that the person who told me that has the right info.
For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the official photos of the new version have "321" written on the movement.
If you are talking about the new model with the updated METAS movement i think its logical to assume that there will be a price increase! If you are talking about the 1861 Omega wont be raising the price (since it will be discontinued) but the market!
I agree with this! 3861 has too much gold on it to have the same reference as the steel version... Will probably be 2861 or something else!
