Making the 3861 standard will also allow a nice price increase, say from $5350 to $6500 - $7000.

And will probably increase the price of the discontinued 1861 too

July 20th 1969 is my brothers actual birthday […] Just curious if anyone else in here has a birthday on THAT day?
Born 6 days earlier, name's day 6 days later. Close enough to be interested.

Do you think Omega will increase the price. When Rolex introduced their new movements into say the DJ etc, did the price increase?

I haven't made any predictions yet, but I will make one now...

The new standard Speedy movement will be announced as caliber 2861... not 3861.

(okay, weak, I know... but it's all I've got. I don't understand why they'd jump from 861 --> 1861 --> skip** 2861 ** --> 3861

Over a 1,000 posts now of speculation.

It's going to be interesting to see tomorrow how close some people got with their guesses.

Not long now. 3-2-1....

Actually, speaking of 321 (the mechanism, not the counting 😀) I have heard that the re-release of the 321 will be labeled 3021. So in the end, it may be very different from the original 321. Or may be, it is just marketing.

Yeah, about every couple days. But I'm not sure that's any different than the continusl circular speculation surrounding the bezel, case, caseback, subdials, movement, timing, or any other details about the 50th Anniversary announcements.

True that!

I just read through the previous 56 pages and some of us on here are pretty funny. I appreciate the passion for the watch and I am also looking forward to its release. I own several luxury watches, including a Grey Side Meteorite, and I have a deposit down for this one but its not for me.
July 20th 1969 is my brothers actual birthday so this watch means a little different to me. I want him to have this because this is something that he would not buy for himself. As a father of 2 and a police officer he has other priorities in life right now and wouldn’t be able to buy this for himself. Just curious if anyone else in here has a birthday on THAT day?

I'm the 24th June and that's close enough to warrant a purchase in my book. Fingers crossed and I've been pestering my UK AD for years about this.

I haven't waded thru all 1150 posts so point me in the right direction if this has already been answered: Has Omega said whether they are scheduling production to have all 6969 available for delivery by July 20th, or is it an earlier or later timeframe? If they haven't disclosed yet, how did they stage production around previous anniversary LEs with large volumes?

50th anniversary last delivery will be 2020 it think
According to AD in CZ, delivery will start in autumn. No idea how long it will take for all 6969 pieces. It took half year for 2012 pieces in case of ST2...better not to use the basic math to get an indicative time frame for A11 50th.

Is there expected to be an announcement on a new standard moonwatch too or is that just rumors?

I believe this production will be delivered on time, by end of this year. A large number, like 6969, is easier to schedule. Plus their bottlenecks have been addressed.

Not sure exactly but Omega management were grousing that production was constrained last year due to supply problems.

You say that but 6969 is a lot. The Speedmaster 70th Anni was widely acclaimed as an excellent release but the ~3500 size of the edition means it is likely the last ones in the network are still being shifted today. Yes there may be more of a buzz around this but there are lot of challenges to selling nearly 7K of them. The two tone finish and likely massive price will be real hurdles*. I think there is a real chance this may be sitting in dealer windows for a year or more. I don't want to sound like a Jonah or Cassandra (or miserable sod for those of a less classical persuasion) but there is a real chance it won't fly...

*they are certainly hurdles to me. I am on a list but if it looks like the speculative renderings, likely wont be buying.

I hear you, but I tend to agree with folks that these will sell out. There are enough people so besotted with the moon landing and the roundness of the number "50" that they'll pay the price. I get it too, there's a reason I was on the wait-list for two so early before pulling out when I heard about the price and what the watch is likely to be like. But I also completely understand why people would want it. So between WISes, space fans, high net-worth individuals with an interest in watches, and grey market profiteers, 6969 will move (half of those may sell in Asia alone). Even if they don't, there is less than a zero percent chance you'll see these sitting in AD windows for extended periods--it'll look too bad for the brand. I'm fairly confident they'll go with a "just behind schedule" delivery system. From my understanding, for the first batch I think Omega is shipping these watches out to ADs based on existing deposits taken (plus or minus 1). They might ship less watches than people on the list (depends on the size of the list), but they certainly won't ship more. From there, if more people make purchases and the 6969 number hasn't been hit, they'll deliver the watches post orders/deposits. So they'll always be right behind purchases to make sure watches are never sitting around. Not to mention, making people wait has worked for Rolex and Omega will try that with this watch.
