Yes, I heard that too and it was repeated during lunch (a rather delicious steak I might add) as Mr Monachon was sat directly opposite me....although my questions were mainly about the past and future of the Globemaster. I no longer have any illusions that there might be a GMT version one day.

Did he mention when in 2020?

You might as well allow the subdial ass to be sold seperatly swap that out on another speedy, maybe the caseback too?
Personally I wouldn't care if they did that. It's been done with the Mitsukoshi. Watchco SM300 is a similar case, too. As long as somebody does it for their own enjoyment and is transparent about it when selling the watch, why not?

Currently we have the standard 1861 movement, and the better finished 1863 movement in the sapphire sandwich model for which the upcharge is $1,000. Both of the 50th Anniversary models have the new 3861 movement with the upgraded finishing. The logical caliber number of this movement would have been 3863 because of the better finishing. That would leave me to believe that when they introduce the 3861 in the regular Speedmaster there will be no basic finished model like there is now. That gives Omega another avenue to raise the price. You will get a better finished and METAS qualified movement (co-axial, silicon hairspring, etc) and probably a new, better finished bracelet. I can see a $1000 or so charge for the better finishing and better bracelet, and at least a $1,000 upcharge for the new movement, I suspect you will see the plain Jane Speedmaster's price to land in the $7,000 to $7,500 range. When you consider that the 50th Anniversary model is $9,650 this makes sense. The upcharge for the Moonshine gold bezel and dial adds about $2,400, consistent of the upcharge that the 45th Anniversary model carried with the Sedna bezel. Just my cipherin' which may be completely wrong, but you will see a significant increase for the entry price of the basic model. I reckon Omega wants to go more upscale with this model, they are leaving too much money on the table by charging what they do for the current Speedmaster.

And did anybody ask about delivery of the 50th? Is it going to be over a fairly short period of time (July-Nov) or is it going to be one of those extended exercises we have seen before? I suspect they would like to deliver all this year, but are they lined up to do that?

Someone made an unboxing video and haven't seen it posted in these threads, so here goes:

Personally I think it looks much better in these more realistic pictures and videos and could pull the trigger. The only issue I have is the grey part of the dial. Guess it has to be seen in real life.

The grey part of the dial is my favorite part.

My OB told me that corporate said delivery would start in July. But the people from the same OB told me that it might take longer. I think they want to protect themselves in case something happens. Last year with my DSOTM Apollo 8 they started saying that the delivery would be August, then September then later December and I finally got the watch in February.

You think? Ask those awaiting the SM 1948 70th anniversary watch. See the discrepancy there?

What is your point? The difference between actual material/ productions costs of goods and the sales price needed to cover all of the costs of doing business is usually a ratio like this. Take a look at Audio CDs of video DVDs -- they cost less than a dollar (USD) to 'produce', and can sell for $20-$30. How are you factoring in the costs for worker salaries and insurances, constructing the factories (and needing to buy of lease the land), having the manufacturing machines made, paying utilities, distribution costs, boutique costs, etc.?

What is the width of the 50th anniversary Speedmaster 130STZ011629 bracelet at the clasp? Does it taper down from 20mm to 16mm?
