Hello,

Am I correct that this is a box that fits the Speedmaster 105.003 or 105.012?

The bracelet is a 7912. Unfortunately, the watch had been lost. That's all what is left.

I believe (from trying) if you put any speedmaster in there, the box will not close. It may close if the watch face is toward the hinge, but thats not how any watch brand has ever designed their boxes to store and showcase their products to my knowledge (which may have holes in it : thus I stand to be corrected). As such, I am of the firm opinion (no matter what pictures are in MWO) that this is not a Speedmaster box.

Dibs on the bracelet 👍

Well I guess you could have a look in the Guarantee folder to see what it states?

I think I saw this box mentioned in the Moonwatch book for either 105.003 or 105.012. I need to check it again in the evening.

The Guarantee folder is not filled unfortunately.

You may be right that it is not big enough. But I wonder which early 1960 Omega watch it fit.

Is there a number on the bottom of the box and/or a year indication on the papers? My guess is that is a bit too early for a Speedy EW or Pro. I would expect a mid-late 60s Speedy to come in a 1501 box. Is there a date code on the bracelet clasp?

Strange, the set in the link I posted above looks to be complete and original and the previous owner of the box I bought stated that it belonged to a Speedmaster. And I believe this box type is also shown in the 'Moonwatch Only' book.

One thing I noticed is that the box in the link I posted doesn't have the gold 'OMEGA' text on the front. Maybe it is a slightly different one?

There exists different graphics, but the size should be unique.
And it definitely does not fit any speedmaster.

The image below is from the “Moonwatch Only” book. Hard to believe that they made a mistake as is THE reference book for Speedmasters

I love Moonwatch Only book, but I believe that box section is not the most accurate.

At least they seem to have found several examples of 105.012 and the following link is also another good proof that this box was indeed used for speedmasters. It comes with all papers. You may argue that the box was replaced later by a collector, but if, why choose a box that doesn't fit:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/what-is-the-correct-box-for-my-speedmaster-2998-61.56635/

And the owner of the box told me that it was his father's watch, which he lost in the 1970s, but that it was a Speedmaster. So, whether it fit the Speedmaster or not, it seems to have indeed been used for the Speedmaster.

Boxes were often handed out by dealers, like bracelets. Who is to say what was bundled up with a given watch. Some are obvious and say which line they are for others don’t. You seem very keen for it to be Speedmaster box the fact remains if the watch doesn’t fit it’s not a very good box!
