The real question you have to ask yourself is, "How am I going to feel about this watch every time I put it on?" If you're not going to feel great return it and find a watch you will great about every time you put it on.

Would you say the quality/ finish is inferior?

No, it's still Omega quality, just newly made and not vintage.

I do not own a latest incarnation of sm300.
Would you say the quality/ finish is inferior with the later/ recent watch cases and case backs?
thanks
Max
As I had/have all genuine HF/CB and service cases in hands, must say, that the old HF/CB cases are bit more elegant and precisely machined steel. The first iteration of 166.0324 cases is also good, just looking more beefy compared to vintage cases. The latest service case version with narrow crown guard slot is looking a bit cheap, compared to its predecessors, more like casted, than machined. But all working very well as a whole.
Just my opinion/experience.

In my case, I`ve loved to wear my watchco, but ended wearing banged, worn, 1967 original watch, just re-sealed to pass the WR test... the piece I wore now is having most wrist time, as there is a great history behind this particular piece and it tells the story every time I look on them.
I`m quite surprised, how it ended, as originally I like nice collectors quality pieces.... I`m just maybe getting older 😀)
