I just looked up your little stir the pot thingy. Not true. As far as I know, two jewelers, it's real. Yes, it has been in the sock drawer for around 35 years. Yes, I had no idea what it was worth. If I don't sell it I will leave it to my grandson. I am also selling my 1973 motorcycle but his mother says "No Way" to leaving it to him.
Please understand that my "little stir the pot thingy" was in no way disputing the authenticity of your timepiece. There has been an on going issue of new members posting watches for sale prior to Forum guidelines requiring 200 posts before offering watches for sale. Based on your responses on this thread I honestly believe your watch may be for sale, but I don't think you were selling it "thru the back door" - so to speak. Regardless, I'm sure to received a few offers already. That being said: These vintage watches make terrific family memories.

Rich, your Seamaster XVI is a Melbourne Olympics Commemorative edition from 1956. It's worth at least $2500 and could go up to $4000 depending on condition - and we need much better pictures from all angles to see what shape it's in.

Good luck with your sale!

I'll try for better photos but I am not very good.

Thanks

ulackfocus was kind enough to explain the proper way to take watch photos. After I take the wife out to eat I will try and figure out how to do what he told me. New and hopefully better photos are coming.

Thank you for your patience.

BTW, if you have the original box, that's worth at least several hundred by itself.

While I am trying to figure out this photo thing, a question for the group. When I put this on Ebay, would it be worth the trouble and cost to get a new Omega leather band for it? If so, where?

If it is not a period correct strap it will not really impact the sale value. I would list as is.

Let me know if these photos are acceptable. Are the angles correct? I am not going pop the case myself to get inside photos. If I can get up to a jewelry store I will take some of the inside.

Those should be sufficient to chum the waters. The sharks will be out soon enough.

I would be proud to own that watch.

Please post the eBay listing when you are finished.

Good luck with the sale,

If you're going to post on Ebay, you'll want more attractive pictures. But for people on this forum - they should be good enough. It looks pristine!

What should I do to get more attractive pictures? How should I pose the watch?

They need better focus. Maybe use a book to steady the phone or camera.

The last two are fine. I would post the movement pictures as they are, and if you can get better ones later, they can always be added.

Just duplicate the pics you've taken.

Use a large sheet of paper (A3 or so) in a medium colour as a background and prop the watch using a ball of blutack.
Make sure your phone or camera is steady by using a rest or even a tripod, or more blutack.

Dial shot should be directly in front, try to avoid reflections, rear and side shots are about the same as you already did.

Try to use natural light near a window and set your camera to macro (little flower thing in settings) if you can.

Don't let anybody try to remove the back cover unless you are sure that they know what they are doing.

It's not difficult but a gold case is extremely unforgiving of the wrong tools in the hands of the unskilled.

Good luck with it.

Cheers

Double Damn,
I just noticed that you noticed much earlier.
Your spidey senses are working just fine then.
