Ok, let's put it this way. sometime somewhere in Mexico, there was an Omega dealer who did not have enough knowledge about hands or minute markers etc....he installed things supplied from Bienne in his own way and sold to his local market. That's why now you have those infamous exception of long hands on those piepan dials. Period.
There are other exceptions which are remarkably consistent and seem to have nothing to do with Mexico
My 2627 for instance never went to Mexico, the extract came back with "French Colonies" as its delivery location, and when I asked what that meant apparently it was most likely French Indochina or Morocco, which would mean that Mexican dealer must have traveled a fair bit
Hoi, how many of these have to show up with long hands before you'll admit that it's the way they came from Bienne? 2 more? 5 more? I'm convinced the long hands are original now.
I think you guys are concentrating on the trees and not the forest here - focusing on the hands which are not difficult to source - short or long - and missing out on the fact that this is a really nice watch!
That it most certainly is, the dial on the one Alex had from mexico had a fair bit of acne on it, but this one looks lovely.
I prefer the grand luxe dial and the 353, 355 movements are problematic, those long hands make it look ugly to me, too
Only if you set the date, I just let it be wrong all the time and preserve my canon pinion Well, actually I let it be wrong in my drawer all month until its right, then I wear it for a couple of days and wait for it to be right next month since its a pain in the arse to set anyway. I think the 2757 is set to the 4th at the moment, I'll schedule it in next week lol
Don't disagree about the movements needing service and parts - that's why I have about 4 of these full movements in my parts box as donors - all of them fully serviced and running.
Quite honestly, if someone put this and a deluxe stepped pie pan in my hands I'd be hard pushed to choose...But if the connie was pink hued, there'd be no question!
Just wanted to let you guys know. Watch is sold to a forum member. Thanks everyone for the information.
Thank you for visiting with us. I'm sure you know, the buyer is very pleased and appreciative. Your watch is in very good hands and will continue to led a pampered existence. Not as pampered as it would be if it were in Minnesota, but pampered none the less. . . . .
Respectable Member Dablitzer The argument about the hands will never end, till the cows come home. It will only be conclusive, if someone confronts Omega Museum to find out the truth. Whether the long hands are correct or not for this model its beauty, as well as, rarity is beyond question. Thank-you.
