I just received the Omega watch below as a gift. It looks to be in pretty good condition. I don't know anything else about it. Any idea on what model/type/year this is? Estimated value? Thanks.
Ok, you did very well there, that's a Seamaster Piepan Reference 2627, it also looks original and rather nice with the exception of the crown which is easy to fix, I actually own one which I did a review of here: http://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-stepped-pie-pan-2627-review.1678/ In terms of value, the two I own were around $5000 each, and that didn't include the bracelet. Its a rare watch, so you might want to consider keeping it long term, but if you are thinking of selling it, there are many members here who would probably be interested in buying it.
BTW I'm sure all the usual suspects will be noticing this SMPP, like all other date at six examples found thus far, has long hands
Very nice Seamaster Pie Pan. Whoever gave you have a very nice taste. The head only will have value above USD 4,000. The bracelet value is its weight in gold. I am not sure if the bracelet is original, not too attractive. But the head......
Thank you for the feedback. The picture above is from my phone and not that great. It looks better in good light. I believe the band has 18k stamped on it. Dsio, your review is great. It makes me want to keep the watch. Though I am going to sell it. I can post some better pictures if folks are interested.
Off the top of my head, I'd contact MSNWatch, he has the date at three and he'd probably be keen to add this one.
Geezus, I want to be adopted into your family. It's a mid 50's model - case reference 2627 as Ash mentioned, with a bumper caliber 355 (or 353). That's a NFW man.
Another one I'll miss out on due to the home improvements going on. Oh, I think there will be a few members interested. Hoi certainly was wrong - the hands are long.
I'm so interested it hurts! A Seamaster piepan with date at six, stepped dial and arrowhead markers...let's see some better pics!
Hah ha, too many wrong cannot make it right !!! and if you choose AJTT as your bible, you'd better follow the rules written in it.
Ah but we know for a fact that one has been tampered with due to its Constellation crown! Or perhaps... just maybe... 50 years ago in Bienne there was a sneaky Swiss bastard in Omega's assembly line who swapped all the date at six SMPP hands over just to mess with us half a century later
How about this sweep second hand Certainly, I like this one better Go change it first then talk about original hands
I'm won't argue on that one But it doesn't change the fact that Dennis' 2757 had long hands, and Alex's 2627, and the two redialed 2757s, which makes the only one with short hands the AJTT one with the Constellation crown.
Well, the bible says Noah managed to fit an awful lot of annoying, large and uncooperative critters onto a wooden boat designed by someone with little knowledge of naval architecture and practically no power tools, if it can be misleading about that, there's potential for AJTT to be fallible as well
