路Congratulations. Can't wait to see more turn up and on the wrist.
The boutique did divulge to me through some watercooler chatter that the delay was due to the case maker not meeting Omega's standards in the initial production run. They had to redo the entire production at the risk of disappointing the customers. It makes me respect Omega for caring about the fans.
Completely lucked into this the other night - I was obsessively revisiting the 1948 models on the Omega site and, out of the blue, the item had an "Add to Bag" option. Earlier in the day, that option was there but clicking on it gave me an error message, and Omega customer support said that the item was sold and the site hadn't yet updated. So when I clicked on this one, I expected to see the error message again - but, to my surprise, it hit my shopping cart! I bought it, expected the purchase to be voided for lack of stock, yet it shipped, I got it today, and I love it. I particularly love it because I'd forfeited my short-seconds model deposit a few months ago, lived to regret it and, over time, started to focus on the center-seconds alternative. My wife walked me through why she thought it superior to its sister model and, as usual, she had a point.
But here's the weird thing: when I got it and opened it (beautiful box, by the way - see earlier threads for it)...it just kinda sat there for me.
But when I took these photos and looked at the photos, not the watch, I realized my eyes were tired for the day and the razor-sharp details in the photos really popped for me. Now, going back to the piece, I see it all and totally get it, and love it.
It's a little thicker than a pure dress watch would be, ideally, but this will straddle work and informal situations beautifully.
Good luck to everyone waiting for their order to come in on these models, and for those who thought they missed the boat, keep checking the Omega site - you never know!
