Omega Railmaster 36mm Price Surge – Did I Miss Something?

Hello everyone,

Can someone help me out—have I missed a trick? The Omega Railmaster 36mm (2504.52.00) was selling for around £4K just last month, but within the past two weeks, prices have suddenly jumped to £8K, with some listings even reaching £14K!

I was planning to buy one, but not at those prices.

Can anyone explain why the price has skyrocketed so quickly? Are sellers just trying their luck?

Thanks,
Nick

Asking prices are not selling prices. There is already a thread pumping these. We do not need another.

To reiterate what padders said, asking price is not selling price. I can list a Pagani Submariner knock off for $50,000 if I wanted to.

I understand your point. I'm more curious if a specific event triggered this surge, causing sellers to align and drive up prices...

None that I know of. Other than people reporting that examples of this watch were being sold within 24 hours of being listed--indicating that there is a pent up demand that the current supply cannot satisfy.

You can try hopping on to watch charts to see if actual sold prices reflect the current list prices you see.

£4000 to £12,000+... not drastic?
Never said it wasn't a great brand.
Your post makes no sense.

If you followed the link, you'd see the watch has risen in price maybe $500 over the last year, according to the Watch Charts data, which is (imo) not drastic. Find a recent completed sale price vs an asking price.

Actually, I think even the WatchCharts data reflects asking price. For example, the last sale they report (as of now) is from a Reddit listing from a few days ago. WatchCharts reports that sale as $4999. That's the asking price from the listing. The watch may well have sold at that price, but only the buyer and seller know for sure. r/watchexchange doesn't publish, nor does it even have knowledge of, whatever price was eventually negotiated between the two parties; those negotiations are private. So there's no way WatchCharts could know the completed sale price.

Hey- it seems like you are really stuck on this £12k asking price as if it reflects actual sold prices. giving you the benefit of the doubt for a moment, please follow the link @hen provided. Most of these recently sold for low 4k USD (so, low to mid 3k £).

that same link contains links to some of these watches listed for high 2s and low 3s.

All of this is true, and it is highly likely that the actual sold price is slightly lower than what watch charts shows. A smart person could estimate that these are selling for Mid-High 3K USD to low 4... With a little bit of research that would seem to be reflected by some current ebay listings.

Even if the data isn't 100% accurate, it does very clearly demonstrate that the incredibly High asking price on some of these listings is just not being touched.

Hi Caphas my post was not directly in response to you, it was more of a general thought about the watch cart listing and the RM itself.
