however, i think objectively if you look at both brands new watches they are not really in similar zip codes (rolex > omega) and IMO tudor is much more comparable to omega.

From a pure watchmaking perspective, I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment.

It isn’t only the DJ that beats any aquaterra, Connie, or globemaster. My thesis is that aside for some small pockets of vintage models, Rolex wins across the board in every single category. Strictly speaking of design and aesthetics, there isn’t a single modern Omega I would take over a Rolex.

I like both brands and have Omega and Rolex, but I will say that if I could only have one watch it would be my DJ41, it simply wins in a straight comparison with any of it's direct competitors.

Omega is leagues above Tudor. They’re not even comparable.

The fact remains that those empty Rolex cases must be profitable. I see them at a lot of Rolex dealers in places that cannot be cheap to lease, and one metric stores are judged on is sales per square foot.

Third - a modern Rolex says something about the wearer that I do not want to be associated with.
So what do you think of the numerous members here on the forum that bemoan the fact that they want, but can't get a new Rolex because of the long waiting lists and exorbitant grey market prices?
You seem quite happy to be associated with them.

since apparently some people in this thread have watches that talk or "say something" about the people wearing them. . .

my tudor gilt sub just said it totally disagrees with this statement

What I find amusing is that people keep thinking that a purely subjective argument such as aesthetics can be "won", especially on a Internet 😉.

One of my colleagues at my main client who is "only" 32 furnishes her house like a geriatric but does so with pride. She listens to Sinatra and is very much an old soul. Do I find her furnishings ugly? Absolutely, but it's not my house so why should I care? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would try to convince her to change her aesthetic and convince her that it's "bad" but that says more about those people.

You realize this is just subjective opinion, right? If you or others want to provide some objective criteria to compare watches, then this thread might make some sense, but otherwise it's just trolling...

Thats total BS. Those 2 are crap. Rolex beats them both. Hands down.

Assuming, of course, that you could actually find a Rolex dealer with watches to sell. 😝

Exactly!

I think we need to conduct a scientific experiment testing the capacity of each brand. Somebody send me to identically aged dive watches, one from Rolex and one from Omega. I will wear them continuously for the next 42 years at which point I will publish my data and put an end to this debate once and for all.

True story: When I was 14 I got publicly roasted by a UK games console magazine, having written in to call out their blatant bias towards Nintendo over Sega.
