Hey guys,

I'm really interested in this watch...if only it was automatic as well..馃檨

Maybe this is a really dumb questions but here we go.

On pictures of the 3576.50.00 the moon on the moon phase complication is sometimes yellow and sometimes white. I haven't figured out if its just the 180 degree shift moon image of the same watch or if its a slight model variation.

Anyone knows?

Looking at the photo on the Omega Extranet, the moon image and stars look silver, rather than gold. All of the Cal. 866/1866 watches I've worked on have had the same colour on both images of the moon on the single moon phase wheel, so AFAIK there's no version with both gold and silver.

Cheers, Al

Being obsessed with 3576.50, I have never seen any color to the moon then silver.

It appears though that the moon disc on 345.0809 is more of a gold/yellow.

I would love to get my hands on the 345.0809 disc to put on my 3576.50

that s interesting, hour markers on mine are a bit longer, I didn t know there was dial variations in this model.

It is very interesting. I have never seen this dial before either.

After seeing another thread about the moonphase, I think I'm sold on trading my current speedy (311.xxxx.005) model for a new 3576.50. I finally got a 3572.50 and now feel I have no use for the new speedy. I felt guilty I wouldn't have the classic speedmaster in my collection but now I don't think I care too much!

Can't get enough pics of the 3576.50! It's gorgeous!

I wish the tachy hand was a simple slim baton, rather than having the dagger (I'm sure I'm not using the correct term) as that blocks more of the moonphase area. Of course, you could move it out the way, but I think that would bug my unofficial OCD having it not set to 12.
I'm happy to say that I have a 3576.50 en route and am intrigued by the discussion around the tach hand blocking the date / moon phase dial. What if you ran the chronograph for 30 seconds and left it at the 6 o'clock position? Would holding it there degrade the movement over time? The symmetry of keeping it there might placate my own OCD but certainly not at the cost of proper usage and upkeep.

Will post pics once I have my unworthy hands on this beautiful piece!

No. The movement over time degrades anyway. Enjoy it in a way that makes you most happy.

Nice pick up and congrats!!!!

Thank you for the info and kind words! After a day on the wrist I'm as happy as one would expect.

I'd like to contribute to the yellow/gold vs silver moon and stars discussion as I was confused about this as well: The moon and stars on the 3576.50 are NOT yellow, and the background of the moon phase dial is NOT an electric blue. However, they tend to look this way when captured on film from certain angles. I've added two pictures as evidence - one a screen cap from a youtube review and one of my watch. Despite having barely 24 hours on the wrist so far, I've yet to have the light catch the dial such that the moon/stars appear yellow in the way they do in the videos I've watched over, and over, and over, and ov....

P.S. Regarding concerns that the date is too small to read: you need only hold the watch .5" from your face, is that so awkward??? But seriously, it is small and does require more effort than a standard date display. But so far it's better/more satisfying than pulling out my phone.

P.P.S. Don't mind the nato strap. The ref. 1998 bracelet is a little too bling for my day-to-day tastes and black ballistic nylon compliments both the design of the 3576.50 and the setting in which I will be wearing it. Now for the next rabbit hole...what straps to collect...

I noticed my moon phase not being perfectly in sync with the actual moon and am concerned that something is wrong with my watch. In my panic I realized that I don't actually know the nitty gritty of how a moon phase works, so I have a few questions...

Does the moon phase disk advance in a stepwise fashion (like the date) versus a more continuous motion (like the minute indicator), making it appear incorrect until a certain part of the day when it will advance one step?

In general, are moon phase complications linked to the date complication such that a full cycle will take 31 days versus nature's actual cycle of ~ 29.5 days? What about in the c.1866 specifically?

Thanks in advance for the help. FWIW my moon phase does advance, it just appears to be behind by a couple days.

Moon phase on a Cal. 1866 looks like this:

Disk with 59 teeth and two moons = 29.5 days per lunar cycle. Still not accurate (actual moon period is 29.5305882 days), but close enough for most. Moon phase advances once per day, at noon, where the date advances once per day at midnight.

Cheers, Al

I have this watch and love it! Girlfriend complains that I look at it's face more than hers. If you have an issue with the tachy hand in the way at 12 position try moving it to 14 seconds I find the significance of that due to Apollo overrides my OCD a bit....a bit.

I'm still thinking about trading my 3572.50 for this...i love the 3576.50....the exhibition back and the moon w/ date!!! The sapphire crystal is the only thing that gets me....

If I only had 10k to spend on a 348.0809....my grail...

Anyone have any idea what a good price for one currently is? I found one for ~$4,900 (25% off MSRP) at an AD still in the protective plastic. I really like it and know that I probably won't get the chance to purchase a new one ever again, but this would also be an impulse buy and I don't want to pay too high of a price and then get burned if I end up selling it.

On steel bracelet or on leather band? Sounds like a good deal if it is one the bracelet as that configuration is worth a little more

The leather strap is genuine Alligator, and so I too agree that is sounds like a good deal.

I had the watch on leather before and picked up the corresponding bracelet, it looks great on both! 馃榾

Thanks, guys! It's on a bracelet. I think I'm going to pull the trigger -- still a bit unsure, but it's a cool watch, won't be able to find another, and I probably wouldn't lose too much if I sold it. I was in a similar situation with a TinTin a few years back (25% off from an AD), couldn't make myself pull the trigger, and well, that decision hasn't worked out great for me. 馃榾

Nice! I hope they give you the nicer, newer wooden box. Some folks got theirs in the red leatherette one, they don't keep very well over time. 馃檨

Ooh, also ensure they give the lil grey plastic/rubber Pusher to adjust the date and moonphase, no point making two trips!

....actually 4900 is a little on the high side currently. But mint, unused, from AD with full Omega warranty I say it's definitely still a great deal - just not a great "trusted seller" deal.

Do it!
