Hi,new to forum, just wondered if anyone can tell me anything about this HS8 Omega.I know it is "Fleet Air Arm",but is the red seconds hand significant? Also what year would it be and is the winding crown a replacement? Number to movement is 9917037 (16 JEWELS) and number to inside of back cover is 2292.Many thanks,Laurence.

I think it is perhaps an MOD redial. A red second hand was seen on the Cyma HS8 if I remember correctly but with a much longer tail, yours is almost certainly a later replacement. As regards year it's probably 1943'ish. There is loads of info and images on line for these.

CK2292s generally had longer lugs with fixed bars:

The material used for these cases was an alloy mix that was quite brittle, so cases with broken or shortened lugs are not uncommon, which yours appears to be. Your rhodium plated 30T2SC is the correct variant and the movement dates it to 1943-1944.

Original dial and hand sets are pictured below, which would suggest your dial was a MOD (Ministry of Defence) approved redial and the red seconds hand is a replacement.

The CK2292's (or UK2292s) had more than one case with different lug profiles. The HS8's generally had the longer lugs and were fitted with spring bars. One check on the HS8 (not sure whether the same applies to the 6B) is to check the numbers stamped above the lug on the mid-case (visible but not clear in your posted image) match the number on the case back - at least you then know the case and back are correct. As has been commented the watch looks like it may have been re-dialed at some point.

Hi, this is mine HS8. It seems everything look good to me except the crown. Appreciates if anyone could commend if the crown is original?
