Hi everyone,

After reading the forums for a few days, I've finally decided to take the plunge and buy my first vintage watch. I've decided to go on with a vintage Seamaster as the price suits me more.

I've found a local vendor that's selling this watch and would love your opinions on it.

The case doesn't look much better, it looks like some of the gold cap/plating has worn through on the lugs.

I'd avoid....at any price.

And…There is nothing wrong with modest…everyone starts somewhere

There will be seriously better examples to find for $250

Keep hunting…the real fun is in ‘the hunt’

Now that you've decided to become a collector, let's find some collector pieces. Many collectors on the forum, if not most, wouldn't wear this piece.

Funny as this is my watch up for auction started at 1.-
Just set a immediate price at 250.- for someone who urgently needs the parts. 😀

Be patient and don't fall for cheap price, pay a bit more for the watch you will enjoy to wear.This is what a bit more money will get you. Especially, you have to be careful with the GF cases...

Is he including the obvious grunge in the asking price? He’s checked into putting the watch into better condition, and has decided to dump it instead. Much work needed, but even then, not a watch most seasoned collectors would consider.

Ugly damaged dial, worn case, broken crystal, patchwork movement... not a watch I would consider to buy regardless the price. Excuse the bluntness.

Save your money and invest in something that you can take a pride in
Why not look to second tier marks
Rotary,Tissot, etc

I agree with @ICONO, you can find something better and the thrill is in the hunt. Heck, I still wake up, grab my coffee and get the shivers when I check for specific models across three places thinking to myself "today might be the day I find it...".

I definitely agree with those who suggest you to save your money and keep hunting your first vintage piece.
You can find something really better than that, even for less than $250.
