This is less a cash grab, and more of an effort to protect the name... do an eBay search for 'omega' and you'll see everything from espresso machines to razors to vacuums. This is why they did the Aquaterra Cologne.

I don't think you can trademark the name Omega. I don't think anyone would associate the vacuum cleaner with the watch brand, but anyone could make sunglasses and label them Omega. That's something that people may associate. So it's best if Omega does it and registers it, and does it right (Tom Ford designs).

I think these will be "gifts" to customers and provided in lieu of discount...

Plus... I kind of like them...

I might be in the minority... but as confusing a move it may be, the glasses look pretty cool.

Back to the non-ripped world, while in Cincinnati, Mad Dog and I compared notes on our Pre-Luxottica, Original Vintage Ray-bans. We discovered, just like vintage Omega or Zenith, our sunglasses are now worth a small fortune. 😜

I know they wanna make money from everywhere they can but this is a false move. You are either a watch company or fashion company.
just look around and see which other watch companies have Eyewear Collections.

They already have a jewelry collection, so this is more of the same...

There are people who eat this stuff up for whatever reason. Very different demographic from me I guess...

Not even four decades ago Megan, I was the slim wiry type (but immensely strong build for weight).
I envy the Doc and his guns, but then again, I didn't have to get shirts with tailor made sleeves. 😁

He does wear the sunnies well though.

Thanks, but I'll stick with my Maui Jims. I enjoy my trips to their factory. 😉

I wore Wayfarer's for years and years, until I finally had to move to prescription lenses. They were $25 a pair, and I'd search for the sale price of $17. Those were the days.

I think the Wayfarer style works well for most people, worldwide, as admirably demonstrated by @Superdoc

The Euro-Goggle style, however, best suits....only certain Europeans.

And in all fairness, there are certain Americans who are not well-suited for eyewear of any sort...

There also are sunglasses which are not well-suited for human beings of any sort.

We all hope that Omega will never do something like that

The Bausch & Lomb Raybans with glass lenses sure are heavy though... 😎

...I'm more a fan of the American Optical. Not a big conglomerate. Just flat-a** cool.

Ditto. 👍

My Navy issued AO's from 1986...pretty beat up but they still get the job done. 😎

Notes to self: Do not challenge Superdoc to an arm wrestling competition...or a bench pressing competition...BUT...I will super enthusiastically challenge him to a Dunkin' Donuts coffee chugging competition. I will win. 😁

I tried all of the sunglasses on last week at an OB. I really liked them, well made and they ooze quality. FYI, the Aviator style cost about 325CHF. My original vintage 1960's Bausch & Lomb Wayfarers cost WAY less and are multitudes less douche-y. As a freebie though.....

.....wondering if it was my response or all the shirtless photos of men that killed this thread. I'm also not quite sure which shirtless photo I dislike most....
