Hey!

I’m looking at the following constellations from eBay and I’m in need of a little friendly advice.

The first, I’m not sure is an original, the dial is a little dubious for me:

T
he second, I’m in love with however again I’m unsure:

The third is a 1040 stainless steal brick strap.. Is the price to high? It looks new.

Welcome @Zaccardelli1994

could you post pics please not links.

the two watches you post don’t have a great deal in common, what attracts you to each of them?
What concerns do you have about the dial on the SS dogleg and generally about the gold c-case?

Hey, sorry for the newbie mistakes haha.

I’m a little concerned it’s a replica. I have had a bad experience before with purchasing Pie Pan.. As for the gold C-shape.. I just wanted to made sure everything adds up. I’m new to the vintage market however my grandfather was an avid collector of constellations.

What do you think of the price of the Pie Pan?

I think the 14900 pie pan is pretty fairly priced. The dial has some issues and the crown and hour hand are wrong, but the case is great. Had the dial condition matched the case and the two other issues not been there it would be a £1400 watch.

Just remember that the dial is the most valuable asset in a vintage watch.

While I was downloading the photos below I realised that it comes with an Omega BoR bracelet. I find the price very fair. Seller takes offers too… Doubt it will last long.

Pretty much agree with all that @ConElPueblo said above.
You do have ti be very careful with doglegs and especially 14900/14902s but this one looks entirely kosher.
The dial is patinated so it is a question of whether you like that - as Troels says, if it were a good dial it would be twice the price.
The movement is remarkably clean.

Regarding the C-case, it appears to be in very good condition. (excl some scratches on the back)
However, I think the seller has pretty much plucked a figure out of the air as with the other odd assortment of things he/she is selling.
Not to say it is an entirely unreasonable price for an 18k C-case but I would prefer to see it around £2k and would want movt shots for that kind of money.

edit: added pics

And sold!

May I ask if the hands of the 14900 are correct?

Most of them have the regular dauphine hands and not with the large lume area like on the hour hand (if I remember correctly...)

There is some rotor rub, but I have come to expect this on 55X-movements. Doesn't look severe, so could probably be saved.

😀

IMO no Constellations should have the large lume cut-out.

Not surprised it sold, I was tempted myself. And I bought one the day before yesterday 🤦

Hardly surprising for that price, nice deal. That’s a prime example why posting pictures instead of links to the auction can sometime be a good idea, I guess. 😀

I have to agree, the price is a little steep and the seller will not provide movement pictures.

I’ve been looking for an 18k C for a long time but half of them are in a real state.

Do you like it?

Personally, I‘m not into those co-brandings like Türler, Meister etc as they make the dial seem cluttered to my eye.

Also, and that might be the bigger issue, if you look closely on the first pictures you posted, you’ll see that there’s a yellow discoloration on the dial around 3-6. There will be angles where you won’t notice, but there are certainly going to be angles where you’ll spot it. And I assume the pictures were taken in a way that does not highlight that part of the dial.

These c-shaped Connies are not particularly rare, good examples come along quite regularly. I’d pass on this one unless it was fiendishly cheap.

I’d also get it serviced if you are going to buy it (or already own it) - as you can see from your first photo, it has rotor rub

I like the Turler C-case on the bracelet the best out of all of 'em!
