Hi guys. I’ve been reading, obsessing online and spending much time on eBay sniffing ad’s as I would like to make an educated buy when I pick up my first vintage Omega. I found this one the other day (551 from what I’ve learned) and despite some polish, incorrect crown I believe and general wear and tear it seemed to me to be a fairly honest example and I wondered if others thought the same? Sold for $1200 in the US. Tell me what my noob eyes missed please and thanks!

Dial looks original to me, though damaged, and case looks pretty sharp. IMO $1200 is a fair price on eBay, I’ve seen worse watches sell for higher. Anecdotally the Arabic numeral dials seem to sell for a discount.

Did you buy it? Or someone else buy it? I think it's charming. Not super condition but wearable for sure. I like the no date. I'd replace that bracelet.

I didn’t. It’s one of the few on eBay recently I thought I might but wanted to ask as I’m still sorting good from garbage.

this is good. I think it’s priced fair and a good starter watch into vintage.
